ENDANGERED ANIMALS

The number of endangered animals is getting higher everyday .

Just because some people hunt them just to keep their antlers as a “trophy” or becaue of their fur or meat.

Besides that we make their habitats smaller each day, we just have to kill them too ?

The most criticalyendangered animals:

Amur Leopard

Giant Panda

Leatherback Sea Turtle

The Little Dodo Bird

Chinese Giant Salamander

Ivory Billed Woodpecker

Northern Sportive Lemur

The Saola-an Asian unicorn

The Tiger

Amur leopard

The Amur leopard is the rarest cat in the world.

There are only about 30 individuals in the world today.

Giant Panda

There are left just over 1.800 pandas in the wild.

Poaching the animals for their fur has declined due to strict laws and greater public awareness of the panda’s protected status. But hunters seeking other animals in panda habitats continue to kill pandas accidentally.

Leatherback Sea Turtle

Leatherback turtles are named for their shell, which is leather-like rather than hard, like other turtles

. Leatherbacks feed almost exclusively on jellyfish, making them susceptible to mistakenly swallowing plastic bags floating in the ocean, which can kill them.

The Little Dodo Bird

A few hundred individuals remain on two Samoan islands, and they are disappearing at an alarming rate due to habitat loss and illegal hunting.

The little dodo bird is facing the same problem of extinction as his extinct cousin the dodo bird-giant flightless pigeon.

Chinese Giant Salamander

The Chinese giant salamander is the biggest amphibian in the world growing up to 6 ft (180 cm) long.

So many things can easily affect them like air and water pollution, and the loss of their habitat, that it is no wonder their numbers have been declining.

Another problem is that these animals are used for Chinese medicine, so the world's most dangerous predator, mankind, is after them.

Ivory Billed Woodpecker

Although officially classified as definitely or probably extinct, these woodpeckers continue to generate both reports of sightings and intensive research on their existence.

Ranked as the largest woodpecker to ever inhabit the United States and one of the largest in the world, the continued existence of this species is highly dampened by the large-scale destruction of its original habitat.

Northern sportive Lemur

Researchers recently reported that there may be fewer than 20 of the Critically Endangered northern sportive lemurs left in the wild.

This lemur is a tiny creature, weighing less than two pounds. It has large eyes to give it better night vision.

The Saola-an Asian unicorn

Often called the Asian unicorn, little is known about the enigmatic saola in the two decades since its discovery.

this rarely-seen mammal is already critically endangered.

The Tiger

Wild tiger numbers are at an all-time low. We have lost 97% of wild tigers in just over a century.

Tigers may be one of the most revered animals, but they are also vulnerable to extinction. As few as 3.200 exist in the wild today.
