EMU has always been committed to its choice of top-

quality materials for the creation of its furniture

and accessories. Moreover, all metal EMU products are

100% Made in Italy – a detail that enables the company

to carry out the strictest quality control during all phases

of production. EMU’s commitment in the sector

of technological research as well as its constant studies

of materials and production techniques have made

improve its know how of metalworking, an area in

Although its history is linked with that of metal, EMU

also experiments its technical research on other

EMU: GARANZIA DI QUALITÀ

EMU esprime il ricco know how tecnologico

aziendale, anche attraverso l’impiego di un

innovativo procedimento di protezione della

superficie, volto a garantire un’estrema durabilità

dei prodotti nel tempo. Il procedimento, chiamato

“EMU Coat”, è stato perfezionato con

la collaborazione delle più importanti aziende del

settore chimico e dei dipartimenti di Ingegneria

delle Università di Roma e Trento. Permette di

creare prodotti altamente resistenti ai graffi,

all’effetto dei raggi UV ed agli agenti atmosferici

anche estremi. Nella prima fase di trattamento il

materiale viene sgrassato, zincato e poi ricoperto

con uno strato fosfatico microcristallino che

conferisce elevate prestazioni anticorrosive.

Dopo questo pretrattamento, il mobile viene

sottoposto ad un processo di elettrodeposizione

catodica chiamato cataforesi, dove il prodotto

verniciante viene applicato per effetto di un campo

elettrico continuo. Al mobile viene infine applicato

mediante polveri uno strato di poliestere colorato

che, dopo una nuova fase di cottura, fa assumere

al mobile l’aspetto definitivo. Le vernici a base

di poliestere usate da EMU sono state formulate

specificamente per l’impiego in esterno, offrono

un’ottima ritenzione della brillantezza del colore

e durabilità, e allo stesso tempo sono facili da

pulire e non richiedono manutenzione, donando

grande praticità d’uso agli arredi. I prodotti Emu

sono garantiti per due anni da difetti strutturali

e da ruggine invasiva.

EMU expresses its vast technical skills through

the use of an innovative, surface-treating

procedure aimed at guaranteeing the utmost

durability of products over time. This procedure,

known as “EMU Coat”, was perfected in

collaboration with the most important companies

in the chemical sector and the Engineering

Departments of the Universities of Rome and

Trent. This procedure enables EMU to create

products that are extremely scratch-resistant as

well as resistant to UV rays and the most extreme

atmospheric agents. In the initial phase, material

is scoured, zinc-coated and then coated with a

layer of phosphate micro-crystals to guarantee

high resistance to corrosive elements.

EMU: A GUARANTEE OF QUALITY

Following this pre-treatment, furniture undergoes

a process of cathodic electro-plating called

catophoresis in which the paint is applied

by the use of a continuous electric field. Lastly,

powder painting a layer of coloured polyester

paint is applied to furniture and after a final firing

stage the furniture piece assumes its final aspect.

Polyester-based paints used by EMU have been

specifically formulated for outdoor use and offer

optimized colour retention and durability while

ensuring the great practicality of products can

be easily cleaned and require little maintenance.

Emu products are guaranteed for 2 years against

structural defects and invasive rust.

La storia di EMU si fonde con quella del materiale

che inevitabilmente la rappresenta, il metallo,

e con il quale condivide molti punti in comune:

versatilità, longevità e rispetto per l’ambiente,

grazie alla sua totale riciclabilità.

La grande esperienza EMU nella lavorazione

del metallo viene rinnovata ogni giorno con

l’applicazione di nuove tecniche e nuovi spunti

senza perdere mai di vista l’importanza di trovare

soluzioni produttive che siano attente al territorio

e alla sua salvaguardia, riciclando minimizzando

gli scarti di lavorazione e usando materiali con

il minore impatto possibile sull’ambiente.

L’IMPEGNO ECOSOSTENIBILE DI EMU

EMU non impiega nessuna sostanza tossica

né durante il processo produttivo né nella

verniciatura, che avviene usando solamente

vernici certificate SMaRT, cioè non contenenti

metalli pesanti né sostanze inquinanti come

TGIC o VOC. Producendo in Italia inoltre, EMU

contribuisce allo sviluppo del territorio locale e

riduce drasticamente le emissioni nocive dovute

al trasporto delle merci. L’impatto sull’ambiente

relativo al trasporto dei prodotti EMU in Europa,

è infatti notevolmente minore rispetto a prodotti

importati dall’Asia, grazie ad una drastica

riduzione del Carbon Footprint.

or VOC are present in the varnish. Moreover,

by manufacturing its products in Italy, EMU

contributes to the development of the local territory

and drastically reduces the emission of harmful

substances due to the transportation

of merchandise. The impact on the environment

regarding transport of EMU products in Europe

in remarkably lower in comparison with those

products imported from Asia thanks to a drastic

reduction in Carbon Footprints.

The history of EMU inevitably merges with the

material it represents: Metal. These two elements

Aero

Sedia dal design contemporaneo, Aero è caratterizzata da una spiccata leggerezza strutturale e geometria, che la rendono un elemento di arredo trasversale e adattabile a contesti svariati. La struttura è in tondino mentre seduta e schienale sono realizzate con stecche in acciaio. Con la stessa filosofia progettuale sono realizzati anche la poltrona bassa, la scaletta pieghevole e lo sgabello, che dal 2014 è disponibile in due dimensioni, con altezze diverse.

The Aero chair with its contemporary design is distinguished

by its structural lightness which makes it a transversal

furnishing element adaptable to any situation. The frame

is in rod while the seat and backrest are made of steel slats.

The same design philosophy has been employed for a low

armchair, folding stepladder, and stool; starting in 2014,

available in two sizes with different heights.

Colourful and casual, the Arc en Ciel collection is dedicated to

those who love spending time outdoors, even in smaller-scaled

environments. The line now includes lounge seating with

armrests, a footrest ottoman, and a coffee table. The folding

The Bahama deckchair is a classic EMU production launched

in 1978. This design is being re-launched and features the

addition of many new colour combinations. The EMU-Tex

outdoor material resists any climate and falls softly onto

La serie Cantilever nasce da un’idea di seduta realizzata secondo una struttura a sbalzo, un progetto che unisce la tradizione manifatturiera dell’azienda alla sua vocazione alla sperimentazione progettuale ed innovazione. Il risultato è una seduta estremamente comoda,con un effetto “oscillante”. Dalla leggerezza e trasparenza della struttura della sedia si è poi declinata tutta la linea di arredi Cantilever: sedute, nella versione poltrona e poltrona bassa, grande tavolo rettangolare e lettino.

The Cantilever series is based upon the concept of a cantilevered

frame, a design that combines the manufacturing tradition

of the company with its proclivity for experimentation and

innovation. The result is an extremely comfortable seat with

a gentle, “rocking” sensation. The lightness and transparency

of the chair’s structure would become the basis for the rest

of the Cantilever line of furniture: two armchairs of differing

heights, a large rectangular table and a lounger.

Marcel è un progetto di divano modulare componibile che evoca un parapetto su un oceano immaginario. Il basamento è realizzato in tubo di acciaio e il piano su cui poggia il cuscino della seduta è in lamiera stampata. Con soli tre elementi è possibile realizzare numerose combinazioni. È disponibile per lo schienale un cuscino da fissare alla struttura, per maggiore comfort e praticità d’uso. Tutta la cuscineria è realizzata nei nuovi tessuti altamente performanti della linea Soft Ware.

Marcel is a modular sofa that conjures up the image

of a parapet overlooking an imaginary ocean. The base

is made from steel tubes and the base upon which the cushions

are placed are in pressed sheet metal. Many combinations can

be invented out of just three elements. A cushion to be fastened

to the backrest’s frame is also available for improved comfort

and convenience. All cushions are made with new top-quality

fabrics from the new Soft Ware range.

The shape of the Pigalle chair recalls a French bistrot. The

profile of these folding chairs is slim, light, and practically

ethereal. The collection also includes elegant tables whose

softly curving legs gives them a sophisticated look. The

simplicity of the embossed steel table top works well with a

wide range of chair designs, and the simple table’s opening

system makes it extremely practical.

Stilisticamente Shot si colloca bene in diversi contesti e si abbina a diversi modelli di tavoli disponibili tra le collezioni EMU.

Shot features a tubular frame combined with a particularly

comfortable sheet metal seat and an openwork pattern

on backrest. The chair, the armchair and the high bar stool

do not take up too much space, making them suitable to smaller

areas. The style is easily adapted to many ambiances and

can be matched with a variety of tables available

Snooze nasce dalla reinterpretazione di uno storico prodotto EMU: la poltrona relax Siesta, lanciata nei primi anni‘80. Grandi dimensioni e forma avvolgente sono le principali caratteristiche di Snooze; attraverso un originale meccanismo di regolazione del bracciolo, la poltrona può assumere due posizioni. Pieghevole, leggera e colorata, la poltroncina Snooze viene lanciata nel 2014 per completare la gamma, insieme ad un pratico pouf. Il telo in textilene può essere facilmente smontato e cambiato.

Snooze is the result of a reinterpretation of a time-honoured EMU

product: the Siesta relaxing armchair launched in the early 1980’s.

The main features of the Snooze are its large size and comfortable

contour. The armchair can be regulated in two positions thanks

to an original mechanism on the armrests. Foldable, lightweight,

and colourful, the Snooze armchair joins the line in 2014. Complete

with a practical pouffe, the chair’s Textilene fabric can also be

easily removed and switched out.

Star is a colourful and informal collection. The chairs are roomy

and comfortable and are available with or without armrests.

Both square and rectangular tables are available in a variety

of sizes and have a hot dip galvanized sheet metal top with

a reinforced metal frame under the edge. Star is a collection

suited to many different outdoor environments, be they private

or for Contract use and are adaptable to both large

and small areas.

Il piano del tavolo Athena ripete il motivo della lamiera intrecciata tipico delle sedute della famiglia. La poltrona alta da abbinare ai tavoli rettangolari della famiglia, ha dimensioni importanti, braccioli smussati agli angoli ed è impilabile. Forme ergonomiche delle sedute e soffici cuscini imbottiti caratterizzano i prodotti lounge della serie Athena, realizzati in acciaio e lamiera stampata. Due tavolini rettangolari bassi, di diverse misure, sono inoltre disponibili, da abbinare alle sedute basse.

The Athena table was designed to guarantee maximum

functionality during outdoor leisure time. The armchair that

matches the rectangular family sized tables is generously large

with rounded armrests and is stackable. Harmonious lines

and the ergonomic shape of the seats are also found in the lounge

version: sofa and armchairs are even more comfortable thanks

to the large, soft padded cushions made with fabric from the Soft

Ware range and can be used with low tables of various sizes.

The Veranda chair has a steel frame with classically

interwoven sheet metal. Its traditional design makes

The distinct design of this collection recalls the magical, bubbly

atmosphere of the 1920’s. Charleston is a collection made up of

a stool, chairs with legs either partially or completely covered

with Wicker and a set of tables of various dimensions that will

satisfy any demand for space. Chairs are light and stackable

and characterised by a unique combination of materials:

aluminium and Wicker for the legs and backrest; and steel

decorated with geometric patterns for the seat.

collection. Starting in 2014, the collection gets a new look with

teak legs, the key feature for the entire line. Strips of solid teak

of various lengths create an irregular grid that makes up

the frames. Cushions are made from top-quality fabric from

the Soft Ware line. The collection features a sofa, an armchair,

low tables and 2 different models of sunbeds with wheels

HAT è basato sulla riedizione, moderna e tecnologica, del sistema delle costruzioni in bamboo. La struttura è costituita da pali tondi in alluminio, con finiture estetiche di alto livello. HAT prevede sia soluzioni autoportanti, sia addossate alla parete e ha una copertura costituita da una tenda scorrevole, richiudibile a pacchetto. Il meccanismo di apertura delle tende di copertura può essere manuale o motorizzato (dotato di telecomando). Il telo di copertura è in tessuto resinato e acrilico sottoposto a trattamento Teflon.

HAT is based upon a newer, more modern and technological

edition of bamboo furniture pieces. The frame is made up

of rounded aluminium poles with top-quality finishing touches

of great beauty. Hat offers both self-supporting solutions

as well as those to be fastened to walls and features a canopy

made up of a sliding curtain which can be folded and closed.

The mechanism adopted for opening these curtains is either

manual or by remote control. The canopy’s fabric is resin-

coated and acrylic treated with Teflon.

EMU-Tex è un tessuto tecnico per esterni realizzato con filo in polivinile. Ha caratteristiche di eccezionale robustezza a garanzia di una durata perfetta nel tempo: massima resistenza ai raggi ultravioletti, agenti atmosferici, umidità e sbalzi di temperatura. È impermeabile ed antimuffa.

EMU-Tex is a technical fabric for outdoor use made with polyvinyl wire. Its characteristics include extreme sturdiness that guarantees the utmost duration over time: maximum resistance to UV rays, atmospheric agents, humidity and sudden changes in temperature. It is waterproof and does not allow mould to develop.

Tessuti cuscini magnetici / Fabrics for magnetic cushions

EMU offre un’ampia gamma di sottili cuscini imbottiti, prodotti in Italia con tessuto da esterni altamente performante. Volti a complementare diversi modelli di seduta, offrendo massimo confort per l’utilizzatore, i cuscini sono realizzati in EMU-Tex, materiale impermeabile, antimuffa ed estremamente resistente agli agenti atmosferici (inclusi i raggi UV), ed hanno un forte magnete interno che li mantiene fermamente in posizione sulle sedute. Disponibili in un ampia gamma colori sono declinati in tre diverse forme: piccolo rettangolare (per sedie Arc En Ciel ed Aero), quadrato (per modelli quali ad esempio Star e Segno) e rotondo (abbinabile a tutte le sedute EMU di forma rotonda, come Round, Caprera e Coupole).

EMU offers a range of thin padded magnetic cushions manufactured in Italy with top-quality fabric for outdoor use. Made to complement a variety of seat models, these cushions offer the utmost comfort to user. They are made in EMU-Tex, a water-resistant material that does not allow mould to develop. Extremely resistant to atmospheric agents (including UV rays), they contain a powerful inner magnet to keep them firmly attached to seats. Available in a wide range of colours, they are made in three different shapes: small rectangular (for Arc En Ciel and Aero model chairs), square (for models such as Star and Segno) and round (suitable to all EMU chairs that have a round shape such as Round, Caprera and Coupole).

Tessuto in acrilicoLa fibra acrilica unisce le qualità funzionali delle fibre sintetiche alla corposità e touch simili a quelli della lana. Il tessuto acrilico usato per gli arredi EMU è tinto in massa, altamente resistente ai raggi UV, quick dry, non si macchia e non imputridisce.

Tessuto in poliestereÈ realizzato con una fibra sintetica che dona al tessuto un’altissima resistenza all’utilizzo ed agli agenti ambientali. Questo tessuto è caratterizzato da una forte resistenza alla rottura e all’abrasione, non si deforma in modo permanente, non viene scolorito dai raggi UV, ha un ottimo recupero elastico ed è idrorepellente. Il poliestere utilizzato da EMU ha una resistenza di livello 4 ad acqua e luce secondo lo standard BSEN.

Acrylic fabricAcrylic fibre combines the functional qualities of synthetic fibres with a full-bodied feel similar to wool. The acrylic fabric used for EMU furniture is mass- dyed, highly resistant to UV rays, quick dry and it will not stain or rot.

Polyester fabricPolyester fabric is a synthetic fibre that ensures optimal resistance to use and atmospheric agents. This fabric is highly resistant to tearing and abrasion. It will not lose its shape permanently. UV rays won’t fade it. It has excellent spring-back and it is water-repellent. The polyester used by EMU has a BSEN Level 4 standard of resistance to water and sunlight.
