Purpose of Employee Manual

The employee manual serves as an outline of standard procedures and job expectations at Lux Designs. Team members have much greater

autonomy over their work experience to promote comfort and creativity within the workplace. To ensure efficient and productive workflow, general

guidelines have been implemented.

1.01 Meet Human Resources

The Human Resources Department takes pride in the growth of our employees. We believe the progression of

an individual is the route for their happiness so we ensure that all employees are developing both in the

workplace and individually. We will identify and resolve any conflicts, both individual issues and between employees. We will familiarize ourselves with the working habits, strengths, and weaknesses of our

employees in pursuit of enhancing their strengths and eliminating their shortcomings. Our ultimate goal is to

build and nurture a cultivated working environment that will ensure the health and happiness of our employees.

1.02 Company Overview

LuxDesigns is a start-up, founded in October 2018 at Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows with the

original intent of not being a company. It was established to accomplish these missions.

Mission Statement: Using 3D printing technology, LuxDesigns creates one of a kind products making every day unique. LuxDesigns envisions a society

where the quality of life at home and work is at its peak because the luxury of customizable products is

available to everyone at an affordable price, at their fingertips.

Vision Statement: Using state of the art 3D printing technology, we provide the chance for employees to use their creativity to design revolutionary products to

enhance the lifestyle of our consumers.

2.03 Harassment and Discrimination

There is certain information HR obtains in order to complete the hiring process and handle emergency situations. This information includes the

employee address, cell phone number, email, and insurance beneficiaries.

Protecting the confidentiality of employees’ information is our top priority at LuxDesigns. Employees of the Human Resources Department are the

only ones with access to this information, and will not disclose any information for any reason until consent is given by the employee. Employees found in violation of this policy will result in immediate

termination.

LuxDesigns strives to establish and preserve a work environment in which people are treated with dignity, decency, and respect. Our

company will not tolerate unlawful discrimination or harassment of any kind. We will seek to prevent, correct and discipline behavior that violates this policy after investigations have been conducted into the logistics of the case. Futhermore, all new employees are mandated to attend our

Harassment and Discrimination Workshop.

2.04 Employee Improvement Plan

For employees that fail to meet expectations or conduct any disciplinary actions, HR will provide the Employee Improvement Plan. The Employee Improvement Plan informs the employee, the areas they need to improve on and guide them through the

action processes on how to improve their weaknesses. Throughout the one month period, HR will be checking on the employee daily and conduct an one-on-one meeting once a

week. If no improvements are shown after the one month period, the employee would have pay deduction and possibly demotion.

2.05 Employee Assessment

I. Policy Overview

Our grading policy is based on a hundred percentage based system for fair and accurate grading. It is broken

down into three different sections varying in weight percentages each out of 100%. All employees, regardless of their positions within the company, are held to the same

standards.

If you do believe there is an oversight in your grade, email the Human Resources Department as soon as possible. For corrections to be made, your email should include

your name, employee OSIS number, the troubled section and date , and if it is a complaint or error.

If there was a mistake, corrections will take 2-3 business

days

II. Attendance

Being present within the workplace is one of the first steps to achieving success. Thus, LuxDesigns

makes attendance mandatory. Employees must always arrive on a timely manner and be prepared

for the workday.

There is zero tolerance for any unexcused absence or lateness. All employees must have a note with a

valid explanation of the cause of the lateness or absence.

have of our company but also, boosts self-confidence through radiating an image of self-worth and self-respect. At LuxDesigns, we want our employees to feel valued. With

appropriate dress attire, we can give off better impressions and stimulate higher levels of productivity.

2.05 Employee AssessmentIV. Evaluations

To ensure that we are performing to expectations and are developing as individuals, an evaluation system is set in place. By evaluating each other and ourselves, we are able to

provide the Human Resources Department with greater insight on the strengths and weaknesses of each employee. With this information, we are able to accurately predict

employee interactions which we can improve through our one-on-one evaluation reviews ultimately leading to the cultivated environment we strive for.

Evaluations must be graded through a non-biased standpoint. If employees are not honest, their evaluation grades will be lowered. If HR suspects an employee's dishonesty, HR will inspect the employee's interactions or ask the employee questions on why he or she gave that grade. If given a non valid reason, his or her grade will be lowered depending on how

much he or she lowered the other employee(s) grades by.

Evaluations for others involve 10 categories (General quality of work, Dependability, Job knowledge, Communication / Listening Skills, Personality, Contribution to group,

Productivity, Achievement of goals, Work consistency, and initiative)

Score range for each category: 1-51: Poor

2: Needs Improvement3: Satisfactory

4. Good5. Excellent

Self-Evaluation grades are determined through an employee's written explanation of why

they deserve the grade they gave themselves. If the written explanation correlates to other evaluations of him or her and HR approves, then he or she will receive that grade. If the HR and evaluations show that he or she deserves a higher or lower grade, then HR will come to

a conclusion with a consensus on what grade the employee should receive. 12

2.06 Communication

At LuxDesigns, we use have four main channels of communication which are used by the entire company. These channels include

Gmail, WhatsApp, Discord, and Remind. Employees are required to check these platforms on a daily basis. By utilizing the platforms, we

can effectively carry out weekly agendas, reminders, and announcements through transparency.

Utilizing the entire work week from Monday to Friday, all departments have department meetings to create and discuss weekly agendas and

goals. Meetings also occur outside of office hours utilizing software applications such as WhatsApp, a convenient messenger app to create stronger bonds between employees and employers and to

discuss present and future agendas.

With weekly agendas lead by the management team, HR compiles them into a digital calendar (tracking progress and deadlines) that is shared to all employees’ professional emails. This ensures that our company is aware of each individual’s goals and progress. It also allows HR to have greater insight on different departments and to

ensure that these departments are meeting deadlines and progress is being made. This will lead to a transparent working environment.

2.07 Payroll

Employees are payed biweekly of every month based on their skill and position within LuxDesigns. Because, LuxDesigns is a start up, employees are paid salaries less than real-world paychecks. However, employees have the opportunity to earn overtime pay for the extra hours used to complete assignments outside of office hours. For every three hours of work done, employees

will receive one hour’s worth of pay towards their paycheck. This encourages all employees to be

involved in company events. Upper management holds the responsibility of collecting all overtime hours from middle management or employees and filing them to Human Resources. The Overtime Form, available on the HR website, asks for the date, number of hours worked and the assignments completed in that time. Furthermore, salaries will increase as the company

progresses.

3.01 Profit Sharing

At the end each fiscal year LuxDesigns shares a percentage of profit with employees as bonuses. Percentage varies yearly based on

corporate performance.

To compensate for lower salaries, LuxDesigns gives employees the opportunity to begin investing in their retirement. The financial team will provide you with all the necessary documentation in regards to

your 401 plan.

The Employee of the Month allows LuxDesigns to

acknowledge and reward employees that have done a

fantastic job for the past month. This employee

receives a custom designed 3D printed employee of the month trophy as well as a

certificate to recognize his or her achievements.

3.04 WorkshopsWorkshops provide learning opportunities for employees on the

necessary skills in a professional workplace environment. Examples may range from Microsoft excel basics to proper etiquette in a

workplace.

3.05 Metro ProgramMetrocards will be provided to employees free of charge for

transportation needs.

Employees will have a 25% discount on all customizable and

personable products created by our 3D engineers.

3.07 Workers CompesationIn LuxDesigns, the safety of employees are one of the most significant policy. If and employees are injured during work,

LuxDesigns will provide for the medical expenses through our workers compensation insurance purchased from Olympic Insurance.

3.08 ScholarshipsScholarships are offered to all the employees in every department.

Employees will be able to experience different events and the opportunity to earn scholarships. This can help our employee gain

more knowledge and improve their problem-solving skills.

4.00 Terms of Agreement

I, ____________________, have read and agreed to follow the Employee Manual. (Print Employee Name) The employee manual describes important information about LuxDesigns, and I understand that I should consult Human Resources regarding any questions not answered in the employee manual. I have entered into my employment relationship with LuxDesigns voluntarily and either I or LuxDesigns can terminate the relationship at will, with or without cause, at any time, so long as there is no violation of applicable federal or state law.By distributing this employee manual, LuxDesigns revokes any and all previous policies and procedures which are inconsistent with those contained herein. I understand that, except for employment-at-will status, any and all policies and practices may be changed at any time by LuxDesigns, and that all such changes will be communicated through official notices. I understand that revised information may supersede, modify, or eliminate existing policies.I have read the employee manual and I understand that it is my responsibility to comply with the policies contained in this manual and any revisions made to it.
