1. UVOD

1.1. OP]E KARAKTERISTIKE U@ADIPostoji vi{e vrsta u`adi izra|enih od ~eli~ne `ice, a koju susre}emo svakodnevno na raznim mjestima pri razli~itim primjenama. U osnovi svako ~eli~no u`e ima dva sklopa.

1.1.1. Promjer u`etaPod promjerom u`eta smatramo promjer opisane kru`nice oko strukova u`eta. Odre|ivanje promjera u`eta vr{i se mjerenjem dviju najudaljenijih to~aka nasuprotnih strukova (slika 1).

1.1.2. Kontrukcija u`etaOvisno o primjeni, "ELKA" Metalna u`arija je u mogu}nosti kombinacijom sukanja i pou`avanja `ica istog ili razli~itog promjera u struku i strukova u u`e izraditi ista za sve namjene i uporabe. Broj ̀ ica u struku mo`e biti od 3 do 91, dakako ovisno o primjeni, kao i broj strukova od 3 do 8 za u`ad za op}u ili specijalnu namjenu, odnosno od 17 do 36 za dizalice i kranove.

1.1.3. JezgraJezgra u`eta ima zadatak da i u najte`im uvjetima uporabe pru`a unutarnji otpor strukovima da se ne bi me|usobno dodirivali ~ime se izbjegava habanje `ica u strukovima i deformacija u`eta. Za slu~aj da jezgra treba biti samo oslonac strukova (lak{i radni uvjeti ili stati~ka u`ad), jezgro je obi~no u pravilu tekstilno. Za te`e uvjete rada (pove}ano naprezanje,

0dinami~ki udari ili povi{ena temperatura iznad 90 C), jezgro je obvezatno ~eli~no, bilo izra|eno kao struk ili u`e.Sva ugra|ena jezgra su podmazana visokokvalitetnim mastima

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ROPESThere are several kinds of ropes made of steel wire, which we encounter daily at various places, differently applied. Basically, each steel rope has two sets.

The following basic notions are connected with ropes:a) diameterb) constructionc) cored) stranding directione) protection

1.1.1. Rope diameterUnder a rope diameter we consider the diameter of a circle circumscribed around the rope bunches. The rope diameter is determined by measurement of two most distant points of opposite bunches (picture 1).

1.1.2. Rope constructionDepending on application, by combination of twisting and stranding of wires of identical or different diameter within a bunch and bunches into a rope, "ELKA"s Metal Ropes Plant is able to produce those for all application and use areas. Number of wires within a bunch may vary from 3 to 91, depending naturally on its application, whereupon the number of bunches varies from 3 to 8 for ropes of general and special purposes, i.e. 17 to 36 for hoistes and cranes.

1.1.3. CoreThe task of a rope core is to render inner resistance to the strandes even in haviest conditions, so they would not touch each other, preventing thus the wear of the wires within the bunches and the rope deformation. In case that a core is applied only as a support to the bunches (easier working conditions or statical ropes), the core is, as a rule, made of textile. For heavier working conditions (increased strain, dynamic strokes or increased temperature over 90 C), the core is obligatorily made of steel, either as a bunch or a rope.All fitted cores are lubricated by high-quality lubricants (dripping point min. 115 C), increasing thus the applicable

uporabi, po{to imaju svojstvo samopodmazivanja ̀ ica u struku, a {to se iskazuje povr{inskim pritiskom na isto u pogonu (prijelaz preko kolotura ili namatanje na vitlo).

1.1.4. Smjer pou`enja@ice u struku, kao i struk u u`etu stvaraju oko osi helikoidu. Du`ina jedne pune zavojnice helikoide nazivamo korakom pou`enja, a ona je usko vezana uz konstrukciju u`eta ovisno o primjeni.U pravilu u`ad se proizvodi desno-pou`ena - s/Z (gdje je "s" oznaka smjera pou`enja `ica u struku, a "Z" smjer pou`enja strukova u u`etu). To ne zna~i da ne izra|ujemo u`ad i s drugim smjerovima pou`enja:

- s/Z kri`no desno- z/S kri`no lijevo- z/Z istosmjerno desno- s/S istosmjerno lijevo

lifetime of ropes, owing to the self-lubrification feature of the wires in the bunch, which is stated through the surface pressure at it during functioning (passing over the pulley or capstan wrapping).

1.1.4. Stranding directionThe wires within a bunch, same as the bunches within a rope, form a helicoide around the axis. The length of one entire helicoidal spiral is called the stranding pitch, which is closely connected with the rope construction, depending on its application.As a rule, the ropes are produced with right-hand stranding - s/Z (with "s" marking the stranding direction of wires within the bunch and "Z" the stranding direction of bunches within the rope). That doesn't mean that we do not produce also the ropes with other stranding directions:

1.1.5. Za{titaZa{tita u`eta mo`e biti:

- fizi~ka (pomo}u masti, ulja ili PVC-om)- kemijska (presvla~enjem ̀ ice cinkom)- kombinirana (fizi~ka i kemijska)

Za op}e namjene upotrebljava se gola u`ad (`ice bez kemijske za{tite), a to je uglavnom u rudarstvu, {umarstvu, vodoprivredi i gra|evinarstvu (dizalice). U pomorstvu i ribarstvu upotrebljava se u`ad s kemijskom za{titom, koja mo`e biti "obi~na" ili "jaka". Golu u`ad i u`ad za ribarstvo za{ti}ujemo i s visokokvalitetnim mastima protiv korozije.Sama za{tita (kemijska, fizi~ka ili kombinirana) ima dvojaki zadatak, tj. {titi u`ad od korozije i vr{i podmazivanje tijekom uporabe ~ime se produ`uje vijek trajanja u`eta.

1.1.5. ProtectionPossible rope protections:

- physical (by means of grease, oil or PVC)- chemical (wire coating with zinc)- combined (physical and chemical)

For general applications bare ropes are used (wires without chemical protection), mainly in mining, forestry, water manegement and civil engineering (cranes). In maritime economy and fishing trade, one uses ropes with chemical protection, either as "ordinary" or "strong". Bare ropes and ropes intended for fishing trade are protected also by corrosion preventing high-quality greases.The protection itself (chemical, physical or combined) has a double task, i.e. it protects ropes against corrosion and lubricates it during its use, prolonging thus the lifetime of a rope.

2. TIPOVI U@ADI

U pravilu razlikujemo slijede}e tipove u`adi:- spiralnu ili zavojnu- standardnu (razli~ita helikoida ̀ ica u struku)- specijalna (ista helikoida ̀ ica u struku)- vi{estruko spiralna (nerotiraju}a)- kablirana

2.1. Spiralna u`adOvaj tip u`adi predstavlja najjednostavnije pou`enje `ica u jednom ili vi{e slojeva, pou`enih u pravilne helikoide raznih kutova i smjerova.

Ova u`ad se u principu koristi kao stati~ka u`ad radi svoje male fleksibilnosti, a karakteristika im je velika otpornost na habanje, mala torziona tendencija, veliki stupanj iskori{tenja ra~unske prekidne sile na vlak i mala sposobnost savijanja.

2.2. Standardna u`adKod ovog tipa u`eta, `ice su pou`ene sli~no kao i kod spiralne. Razlika je u tome {to su `ice u struku pou`ene u pravilne helikoide raznih kutova ali istog smjera.Standardna u`ad upotrebljava se kao stati~ka i kao radna. Kao radna koristi se u radu gdje nema u~estalih savijanja i o{trijih pregibanja.Karakteristika ove u`adi je da imaju najmanja svojstva na savijanje (ako poslu`e kao radna), pove}an promjer za oko 5% u odnosu na u`ad sa helikoidom istih kutova u struku. Zbog na~ina pou`enja imaju izraziti to~kasti dodir `ica u struku, {to uveliko pove}ava specifi~ni pritisak, {to smanjuje trajnost u`a.

2.3. Specijalna u`adKod ovog tipa u`eta, `ice u struku su pou`ene u pravilne helikoide istog kuta i istog smjera, {to zna~i da se `ice me|usobno naslanjaju uzdu`no, ~ime je pove}ana povr{ina dodira, odnosno specifi~ni pritisak smanjen na minimum. Ova u`ad se koristi, za razliku od standardne, gdje su pove}ana naprezanja na savijanje, povr{insko habanje vanjskih `ica i pove}an specifi~ni pritisak uslijed prijelaza u`eta preko koloturnika ili bubnja za namatanje.Naj~e{}e izvedbe specijalne u`adi su:

- Seale- Warrington- Füller- kombinacija gornjih triju.

2. ROPE TYPES

As a rule, we differ the following types of ropes:- spiral or twisted- standard (with different wires helicoide within a bunch)- special (same wires helicoide within a bunch)- manifold spiral (unrotating)- cabled

2.1. Spiral ropesThis type of ropes represents the simplest stranding of wires in one or more layers, stranded in regular helicoides of different angles and directions.

Due to their low flexibility, these ropes are principally used as statical ropes, their main feature being an increased resistivity to wear, small torsion tendency, high grade of utilization of calculated tensile strength and low bending ability.

2.2. Standard ropesBy that type of rope, wires are stranded similarly as by the spiral ones. The difference is in the fact that the wires within a bunch are stranded into regular helicoides of different angles but of same direction.Standard ropes are used as statical and working ropes. As working ropes, they are applied in areas without frequent and severe bending. These ropes feature minimal bending property (if applied as working ropes), increased diameter for approx. 5 % as related to the ropes with the helicoide of identical angles within a bunch. Due to the way of stranding, they have a marked dotted touch of wires within a bunch, which increases considerably the specific pressure and dicreases the lifetime of a rope.

2.3. Special ropesBy that type of rope, the wires within the bunch are stranded into regular helicoides of the same angle and direction, meaning that the wires mutually lean both longitudinally and chemically, increasing thus the touch surface, i.e. the specific pressure is dicreased to a minimum. In distinction from the standard ones, these ropes are used in the areas of increased strains to bending, surface wear of external wires and specific pressure due to the passing of a rope over a pulley or a wrapping drum).Most frequent constructions of special ropes:

3. TEHNI^KE KARAKTERISTIKE ^ELI^NOG U@ETA

Pod tehni~kim karakteristikama ~eli~nog u`eta podrazu-mijevamo slijede}e:

- prekidna sila u`eta- radne karakteristike u`eta- granica optere}enja na umor- modul elasti~nosti

3.1. Prekidna sila u`etaEfektivna prekidna sila u`eta je sila s kojom se ra~una u primjeni, a dobije se umanjenjem ra~unske sile koeficijentom korekcije u zavisnosti od izvedbe u`eta, prikazanih u tablici 1.

3.2. Radne karakteristike u`etaU uporabi, u`e se pona{a kao elasti~no tijelo koje se do granice proporcionalnosti pona{a prema Hoockeovom zakonu. To zna~i da prilikom uporabe, u`e uslijed djelovanja zatezne sile komprimira jezgru stvaraju}i odre|eni oslonac, {to se o~ituje u manjem promjeru i ve}oj du`ini nakon djelovanja sile.Dakle, u`e se pona{a kao elasti~no tijelo, pa prema tome odgovaraju}a sila granice elasticiteta je ispod ra~unske prekidne sile. Preko te sile u`e ne smije biti optere}eno.

3.3. Granica optere}enja na umorKao i svaki drugi metal, tako i u`e ima granicu umora. Ukoliko u`e optere}ujemo ispod granice elasti~nosti osiguravamo ve}u trajnost u`eta.

3. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF STEEL ROPE

Under the technical characteristics of a steel rope we consider the following:

- tensile strength of rope- working features of rope- load limit to stroke- elasticity module

3.1. Tensile strength of ropeEffective tensile strength of rope is the strength calculated with during application, obtained through the decrease of the calculation strength by the correction coefficient in dependance to the rope construction, stated in the table 1.

3.2. Working characteristics of ropeWhen applied, the rope behaves as an elastic body, conducting itself acc. to the Hoocke's law up to the proportionality limit. It means that during application the rope, due to the tensile strenght activity compresses the core forming certain support resulting in smaller diameter and longer length after tensile strenght impact.Consequently, as a rope behaves itself as an elastic body, it means that the corresponding elasticity limit strength is below the calculated tensile strength. The rope must not be exposed to larger tensile strength.

3.3. Fatigue load limit As any other metal, the rope has its own fatigue limit too. By loading it beneath its elasticity limit, we secure longer lifetime of a rope.

3.4. Modul elasti~nostiIako u`e nije homogeno tijelo, ono se pona{a kao elasti~no tijelo. Prividni modul elasti~nosti novih u`adi, u zavisnosti od izvedbe dan je u tablici 2.

Za u`ad sa ~eli~nom jezgrom, modul elasti~nosti je za pribli`no 25% ve}i. Gore navedene vrijednosti su pribli`ne, {to je uvjetovano kutevima pou`enja ̀ ica u struku i strukova u u`etu.Normalno je da u`ad s manjim modulom elasti~nosti imaju ve}u radnu sposobnost i lak{e podnose dinami~ka optere}enja. U`ad s ve}im modulom, bolja su za stati~ka optere}enja.

3.4. Elasticity moduleAlthough it is not a homogenous body, it behaves as an elastic body. The apparent elasticity module of new ropes, in dependance to the construction, is stated in the table 2.

For the steel cored ropes, the elasticity module is for some 25% higher. The above stated values are approximative, conditioned by the angles of wires stranding in a bunch and the bunches in a rope.Normally, ropes with smaller elasticity module have increased working ability and they sustain better dynamic loads. The ropes with larger module, are better indicated for statical loads.

4. PONA[ANJE U@ETA PRI NJEGOVOJ UPORABI

U svojoj primjeni u`ad }e biti izlo`ena raznim djelovanjima: fizi~kim, kemijskim i kombiniranim. Ovisno o tipu i konstrukciji u`e }e se razli~ito pona{ati prema ovim djelovanjima.

4.1. Naprezanje na vlakOptere}enje u`eta na vlak mo`e biti stati~ka i dinami~ka, a odre|uje se prema formuli

Pri odre|ivanju sile na vlak, potrebno je ra~unati s dinami~kim naprezanjima bez obzira kolika im je vrijednost.

4.2. Koeficijent sigurnostiKako bi se u`e moglo upotrebljavati bez bojazni da ne}e do}i do trajne deformacije ili puknu}a uslijed djelovanja stati~ke ili dinami~ke sile, koristimo se koeficijentom sigurnosti. Koeficijent sigurnosti je odnos ra~unske prekidne sile u`eta i maksimalne stati~ke sile kojim }e u`e biti optere}eno. U tablici 3. prikazani su koeficijenti sigurnosti s obzirom na primjenu.

4. ROPE BEHAVIOUR IN APPLICATION

During its application, a rope will be exposed to various influences: physical, chemical and combined. Depending on its type and construction, the rope will respond differently to those influences.

4.1. Tensile strengthTensile strength of a rope is either statical or dynamical, determined by a formula:

When stating the tensile strength, it is necessary to calculate with dynamical strains regardless of their value.

4.2. Safety coefficientIn order to increase the application areas without fear of lasting deformations or cracking caused by the action of a statical or dynamical force, we apply a safety coefficient. The safety coefficient represents the relation between the calculation tensile strength of a rope and the max. statical force loading the rope. In the table 3. are stated the safety coefficients with consideration to the application area.

Za u`ad s ~eli~nom jezgrom, ove vrijednosti moraju biti uve}ane za 20%.

5. RUKOVANJE U@ETOM

5.1. Ambala`aAmbala`a ima va`nu ulogu u za{titi u`eta od mehani~kih o{te}enja i drugih ne~isto}a, prilikom skladi{tenja ili transporta. Namata se na drvene kaleme ili bubnjeve (ovisno o promjeru i du`ini), a mo`e biti isporu~ena i u obliku prstena (kotura).

The stated safety coefficients are the minimal ones and they guarantee the safe functioning and the lifetime of a rope, if properly chosen with regard to the D/d or D/ø relation, meaning:

D - capstan or pulley diameterd - wire diameter in external layer of rope bunchesø - rope diameter

Navedeni koeficijenti sigurnosti su minimalni i garantiraju siguran rad i vijek trajanja u`eta, u slu~aju kad je izvr{en pravilan odabir ovisno o omjeru D/d ili D/ø, gdje je:

5. ROPE HANDLING

5.1. PackingThe task of packing in rope protection against mechanical damages and other impurities during storage or transport is most important. It is wrapped upon wooden reels or drums (depending on their diameter and length), and could be delivered in the form of a ring (bundle) too.

6. OZNA^AVANJE U@ADI

Osnovno ozna~avanje u`adi svodi se na:- ozna~avanje prema broju strukova 3,4,5,6,7 i 8, a kod

nerotiraju}eg ili Herkules od 17 pa na vi{e- ozna~avanje prema broju ̀ ica u struku- ozna~avanje prema vrsti i broju jezgara- ozna~avanje prema smjeru uvijanja- ozna~avanje prema prekidnoj ~vrsto}i ̀ ice- ozna~avanje prema za{titi ̀ ice (gola, pocin~ana ili jako po-

cin~ana)- ozna~avanje prema konstrukciji struka (Standard, War-

rington, Seale, Füller ili kombinacija ovih izvedbi).

7. PRIMJENA U@ADI

Kao {to znamo, ~eli~na u`ad ima {iroku primjenu i to u: po-morstvu, ribarstvu, gra|evinarstvu, rudarstvu i drugdje. Radi tako {iroke primjene mora zadovoljiti razne zahtjeve, po~ev{i od prekidne sile, radnog vijeka, za{tite i ostalih potreba, a sve u svrhu sigurnog rada s njom.Pravilnim izborom i rukovanjem, zadovoljit }e se tra`eni uvjeti i osigurati siguran rad postrojenja gdje je ugra|ena ~eli~na u`ad.

5.2. Skladi{tenjeU`ad bi u pravilu trebalo skladi{titi u nadkrivenim prostorima (atmosferalije i sunce), dobro provjetrenim i suhim, te podalje izvora kemijskih reakcija.

5.3. Odmatanje u`aBez obzira, da li je u`e novo ili staro, ono ne podnosi torziona naprezanja, jer je pod djelovanjem istih podlo`no plasti~noj deformaciji. Zbog toga moramo paziti da se prilikom odmatanja ili namatanja s bubnja ili prstena (kotura) ne izazivaju torziona naprezanja.

5.2. StorageAs a rule, ropes should be stored in covered areas (weathering factors and sun), properly aired and dry, apart from chemical reaction sources.

5.3. Rope unwrappingRegardless on its being new or old, a rope can't withstand torsion strains, as under their action it is exposed to a plastic deformation. For that reason it is necessary to pay attention and avoid torsion strains during drum or ring (bundle) unwrapping or wrapping.

6. ROPE MARKING

Basic rope marking could be reduced to:- marking according to number of bunches 3,4,5,6,7 and 8, while by unrotating or Hercules from 17 on

- marking according to number of wires in a bunch- marking according to type and number of cores- marking according to direction of twisting- marking according to tensile strength of a wire- marking according to wire protection (bare, galvanized or strongly galvanized)

- marking according to construction of a bunch (standard, Warrington, Seale, Fueller or combination of those constructions).

7. ROPE APPLICATION

As known, steel ropes are widely applied and specifically in: maritime economy, fishing trade, civil engineering, mining and elsewhere. Due to such a wide area of application, they have to meet different requests, starting with their tensile strength, lifetime, protection and other needs, to secure their safe functioning.If chosen and handled properly, they'll meet the requested conditions and insure a safe operation of a plant where steel ropes are fitted.

8. ROPE PACKING

To be delivered from producer to consumer, a rope has to be protected against mechanical damages, enabling the easiest way of transport.Two way of packing are mostly used nowadays:

1. Packing on wooden drums2. Packing on rings.

Ropes are mostly packed on wooden drums of standard dimensions acc. to HRN N.CO.505. Though being very safe, that way of packing is expensive too.Picture 6. shows a wooden drum and on table 6. are stated dimensions acc. to the standard. All ropes, regardless of their elaboration, construction or material a rope is made of, are wrapped on drums. Rope length wrapped on a drum, may be calculated by the following formula:

L = rope length wrapped on a drumD = diameter of rope wrapped on a drumd = external drum diameter1

d = diameter of drum core2

L = inner span between drum sides2

Wrapping in rings cheapens considerably a rope price, no packing being necessary. This way of wrapping is widely spread out due to wood saving. Here, we rarely apply that way of packing, as a buyer need to have a device for rope unwrapping, so it would not form an "eight".In such a way in rings wrapped rope, has to be fixed by a steel tape at least in three positions, additionally covered by fat paper by way of protection.Following ropes must not be wrapped in rings:

1. Steel ropes for people transport2. Pulling mining ropes3. Supporting ropes for cable railways4. Ropes for suspension-bridges5. All longitudinally stranded ropes6. Spiral ropes7. Unrotating ropes

8. PAKIRANJE U@ADI

Da bi se u`e otpremilo od proizvo|a~a do potro{a~a, potrebno ga je za{titi od mehani~kih o{te}enja i omogu}iti da se najlak{e transportira.Uglavnom danas poznajemo dva na~ina pakiranja u`adi i to:

1. Pakiranje u`adi na drvene bubnjeve,2. Pakiranje u`adi u kolute.

Kao naju~estaliji na~in u`ad se pakira na drvene bubnjeve standardnih dimenzija po HRN-N.CO.505. Ovaj na~in pakiranja je veoma siguran ali i skup.Na slici 6. je prikazan drveni bubanj, a u tablici 6. dane su dimenzije prema standardu. Na bubnjeve se namata sva u`ad bez obzira na izradu i konstrukciju ili materijal od kojeg je u`e izra|eno. Duljina u`eta koja se namata na bubanj, mo`e se izra~unati na osnovi slijede}eg izraza:

Namatanje u kolute znatno pojeftinjuje ukupnu cijenu u`eta, jer otpada ambala`a. Ovaj na~in namatanja je vrlo rasprostranjen zbog u{tede drveta. Kod nas se ovaj na~in pakiranja rije|e primjenjuje jer kupac mora imati ure|aj za odmatanje u`eta, kako ne bi "sko~ilo u osmicu".Ovako namotano u`e u kolute mora biti vezano najmanje na 3 mjesta ~eli~nom trakom i jo{ omotano masnim papirom radi za{tite.U kolute se ne smiju namatati slijede}a u`ad:

1. ^eli~na u`ad za prijevoz ljudi2. Izvla~na rudni~ka u`ad3. Nose}a u`ad za ̀ i~ane ̀ eljeznice4. U`ad za vise}e mostove5. Sva uzdu`no pou`ena u`ad6. Spiralna u`ad7. Nerotiraju}a u`ad.

9. TABLES

In the tables are stated the guaranteed tensile strengths of ropes, i.e. the calculated forces reduced for the coefficients of a torsion strain manifesting itself during wire stranding into a bunch and bunches into a rope. The tensile strengths are represented in the tables for individual constructions, serving as a base for the calculation of a minimal necessary tensile strength of rope in application, as described in previous chapters.
