Eleven Ways to Succeed as a Student at FM

Stay in school for the joy of learning! Major in a subject that you love, and then staying

motivated will be easy! Learn to budget your time.

Take advantage of the many fun cultural, sporting & academically invigorating opportunities on campus! You’ll

be surprised by what you learn & who you meet! Learn the lay of the land of the library, computer lab &

other major offices. Cultivate friendships with other students who will support

your quest for knowledge. Write in proper English when emailing your professors

and on your papers. Don’t write in email or text messaging speak!

The time to be concerned about grades is in the beginning, not at the end. A low GPA in your first year

takes a long time to overcome. Keep a calendar to record significant dates & deadlines. It

will help to keep you organized! If you miss a class don’t ask, “Did I miss anything

important?” It is all important. Read your student handbook “The Source” carefully. It is

important to know the college’s rules & regulations and Student Code of Conduct!
