We Are Dolphins!

The Harper PTO● The Harper Parent Teacher Organization is made up of

Harper parent volunteers. It consists of an Executive Board and over 45 different committees/chairs with close to 75 additional committee support volunteers each year. It takes a village and that’s why Harper PTO is so successful!!

● 2020-2021 President: Emily Primosch — reach out to [email protected]

What is our Goal?● The PTO’s goal is to enhance every Harper students’ educational

experience. ● Traditionally, we offer an array of enrichment programs and

community-building events. This year will be reimagined as we commit to providing the best possible experiences for every Harper student, whether remote or in-person.

● The PTO is also committed to supporting teachers and staff and ensuring that the building and grounds are as beautiful, safe and well-equipped as necessary to make Harper a wonderful place for learning and growing.

How do we fund the PTO?● Harper handles its PTO fundraising primarily through iGNITE instead of

running a slew of fundraisers such as a school benefit or gift wrap or candle sales. The iGNITE campaign is the primary driver of funds for the many unique PTO enrichment programs and supplemental educational activities that support our students’ learning experience.

● iGNITE funds also pay for crossing guards, outdoor classroom/garden upkeep, teacher appreciation, community service programming, school beautification, website & communication platforms and many other expenses.

● This year’s suggested donation amount has been lowered to $75/child (tax deductible). The ignite campaign kicks off at the beginning of the school year. Donations can be made online at harperpto.com, through the donation link on the A to Z directory, or an in-person drop-off coordinated with PTO treaurer, Marni Sheehan.

● Thank you for supporting our students and teachers during this critical time!

Membership/Directory● Shortly after class assignments are announced, Harper families will

receive an email from AtoZ with login instructions. You will be asked to verify your contact information and will have the opportunity to purchase your PTO membership ($25) . This will give you access to our online parent/family school directory.

● The A to Z directory is accessible via app and desktop. For an additional $5 you will receive a printed version of the Harper directory in the fall.

● New this year, the A to Z portal will also be used to purchase items/make contributions throughout the year for opportunities such as iGNITE donations and teacher & staff gifts.

Meetings● We plan to host three Zoom PTO meetings in 2020-2021. Dates

will be communicated through Harper Happenings and social media posts.

● Traditionally, these meetings are a chance to connect with our community, ask questions and learn how the PTO is working within our school and where you might want to get involved.

● In the past we’ve also hosted guest speakers to provide continuing education opportunities on topics such as technology safety, state of District 39, Highcrest Middle School transition and mindfulness.

Communication● www.harperpto.com: Find up-to-date information on ALL things

Harper. ● Harper Happenings Newsletter: Starting the week before school, be

sure to read the weekly Harper Happenings Newsletter emailed each Friday with school news, enrichment activities, PTO events, calendar and reminders.
