Case StudyThe Queensland Disaster Management Act 2003 requires Local Governments to share event related information. Despite this requirement, there is no formal process or framework to facilitate the passage of information.
As a result, Councils across the Southeast Queensland region have disparate event management procedures and widely varying information management capabilities. The current arrangements do not facilitate timely or effective operational response, coordination, recovery planning, or strategic decision-making.
Solution - create a web-based information management system, to facilitate the timely and accurate collation, dissemination and sharing of event-related information.
Results – Joint Emergency Management Application, a fully Web- based solution linking city councils with various public and commercial entities that can now identify and share information.
