TAKBEERAAT OF EID

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) used to recite Takbeeraat (praising Allah) from Fajr till Eid prayer.

Transliteration: Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La-ilaaha Illallah Wallahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa-lillahil hamd

Translation: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, There is no Deity but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is

the Greatest, and all praise is due to Him

Procedure of Eid prayers 1. Eid prayer can only be offered in congregation, not alone.

2. Eid prayer must be offered before Solar noon (Fiqh Ahmadiyya, page 178)

3. There is no Azaan or Iqamah for Eid prayer.

4. In the first rakat, after reciting Thanaa and before Ta’awwuz and Surah Fatihah, the Imam should say 7 more

Takbeeraat out loud.

5. The Imam and the followers should raise their hands to their ears and drop them each time.

6. After the Takbeeraat, the Imam should recite Surah Fatihah and a portion of the Holy Qur’an out loud. Then, he

should complete the rakat.

7. In the second rakat, Imam should say 5 more Takbeeraat and then according to the details mentioned in step 4,

should complete the second rakat.

8. Then the Imam should deliver a sermon which is similar in procedure as for the Friday Sermon. The order for

the sermon is Tashahhud and Surah al-Fatihah, Sermon and then Khutbah Thania.

local Sermon notes for Eid Sermon at homes. Both of these are available on next pages

SUMMARY OF EID SERMON DELIVERED BY HAZRAT KHALIFATUL MASIH V (may Allah be his Helper!)

on May 24, 2020

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) has explained the reality of Eid in one of his essays. He has stated that there are

different kinds of people who celebrate Eid. He has also explained the reality of Eid and which Eid is

acceptable in the sight of God.

Hazoor Anwar (aa) stated that our life is composed of our habits and emotions. We tend to follow what

we see around us in our society. Similar is the case with Eid that many people celebrate it customarily,

while not being aware of its reality. They celebrate it only because they have seen their parents doing it

or they think they have been commanded to do so by Allah and His Messenger (sa). They think of Eid as

merely getting clean physically and wearing new clothes.

We should remember that Eid means happiness and happiness is achieved when we succeed in any task.

If a person doesn’t succeed, he has no reason to celebrate. We should look at Eid in similar terms because

celebrating Eid is equivalent to claiming success.

The true Eid is that which gives us something in return. For a Muslim, his most valuable treasure is Allah’s

happiness. Allah has placed this Eid to give us glad tidings that our fasts have been accepted. At the same

time, we know that some kinds of worship are not accepted. Once, a person read Salat quickly in front of

the Holy Prophet (sa). The Holy Prophet (sa) asked him to pray again as his prayer was not accepted. This

happened twice. He then asked that how should I pray. The Holy Prophet (sa) said to pray slowly in a calm

manner. This is true prayer.

Similarly, Allah has told us that the worship of such people is not accepted who do not fulfill the rights of

fellow human beings. So, we should ponder over our condition that what kind of Eid are we celebrating.

Generally, Eid is of three kinds.

Firstly, there are such people who worship Allah with purity of heart. Their worship of Allah, prayers, fasts,

Zakat, Tabligh and other good deeds are for the sake of Allah, not to show other people or to earn a good

reputation. Such people attain Allah and remain in a constant state of Eid.

Even if they do not have worldly wealth or apparent happiness and celebrations, true Eid belongs to such

people because they are grateful to Allah in all conditions. Similarly, people who are affluent can also

attain Eid; those who, while enjoying the blessings of this world, also turn towards God. Moreover, while

benefiting and enjoying from the blessings of God, they are ever ready to serve fellow human beings as

well.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) excelled the most in closeness to Allah. We can see both aspects in his

life; a life of extreme poverty and simplicity and a life of affluence when he was granted the blessings of

this world. The true success lies in following the will of God in all circumstances.

The second kind of Eid is of such people who, according to their circumstances, enjoy apparent happiness

and celebrations such as wearing new clothes, but the true Eid is far from them. Nonetheless, they are

extremely happy on the day of Eid. The reality is that such people, who do not pay attention to the rights

of Allah and the rights of fellow human beings, earn Allah’s displeasure and ruin both this life and the

hereafter.

The third kind of Eid is for those people who are different from the above two categories. These are people

who know that they are sinners and their hearts are embarrassed over the fact that they have not truly

fulfilled the obligations of prayers and fasting. Despite apparent celebration, their heart and mind stay

restless. Internally, they are always regretful and ashamed of their weaknesses.

Due to this embarrassment and regret, when they bow in front of Allah, Allah also comes to them running.

Allah does not waste the efforts of his servants. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) has stated that Allah

is happier with the repentance of man than the one who finds his lost camel in the desert.

Therefore, we should try that even if we can’t be in the first category, we should at least be in this third

category. This isn’t a small achievement either. We should make sure that we do not remain in the second

category of people whose Eid is limited to worldly celebrations and happiness. May Allah enable us to do

so!

We should remember all such Ahmadis in our prayers who are being harmed due to their faith, we should

pray for the entire Muslim Ummah and we should pray for world peace. May Allah enable us to do so!

National Secretary Mal articulates for bringing our attention towards paying Compulsory Donations (Lazmi

Chandajat) that:

Syedna Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih V (May Allah be his helper!) said:

“Remember, whatever you spend and whatever you pledge and whatever is your income, Allah knows very

well. Always try to clear your accounts with Him. To get reward from Allah, the Almighty, you must give your

budget as per your true income and make regular payments as per prescribed rates, so that your spiritual

condition gets better and you can excel in righteousness.”(Friday Sermon 28 May, 2004)

We wish to remind all male and female members of the Jama‘at including Khuddam, Ansar and Lajna, who

have any kind of earning to pay obligatory donations (Chanda ‘Am or Chanda Wasiyyat and Chanda Jalsa

Salana) in accordance with the prescribed rates.

Our young generation needs to give more attention towards obligatory donations. Huzoor Anwar (aa) has

mentioned many times that these compulsory (Lazmi) donations have precedence on all other donations.

Therefore, you are requested to check your payments and pay in case of arrears. May Allah bestow upon all

of us the strength to meet our obligations! Amin!
