FEATURESOPERATING PRINCIPLEThe EE300 series level measuring system is a flexible inventory system that can consist of the EE300 sensor(s) only or it can include the remote control unit (RCU) or MMS materials management system PC-based software (consult with Aplus Finetek Sensor for availability).

The EE300 is a third generation weight & cable inventory level measuring sensor consisting of a sensing weight, heavy duty stainless steel cable, distance measuring component, position detection sensor and electronics (includes firmware). The EE300 detects the sensing weight status and measures the empty space distance within the vessel during a measuring cycle.

Upon the initiation of a measurement the sensing weight and cable system is lowered into the vessel until the sensing weight contacts the material surface, which is detected by the position sensing system, then the sensing weight and cable system is raised and returned to the starting socketed position. Distance measuring and position sensing systems use state-of-the-art solidstate Hall-effect and reed switch sensors. When the measuring cycle is completed all outputs and data are updated. OPERATING GUIDE

Ÿ To avoid problematic operation and minimize maintenance requirements please ensure that the “sensor lockout” is connected properly so that you do not inadvertently begin a measurement while the vessel is filling.

Ÿ Do not initiate measurement cycle during vessel filling.Ÿ To avoid problems and minimize maintenance do not initiate measurement in an empty silo when the

maximum measuring range is not known and has not been properly set. If this guideline is not followed then sensing weight could fall into discharge opening and damage to sensing weight and other equipment can result. Maximum measuring range MUST be properly set before beginning operation.

Ÿ Please consider that there is a minimum 24” (0.6m) dead zone or blind area beneath the sensor mounting flange.

INSTALLATION

Ÿ Location of sensor should be as far away from the fill inlet as possible, at least 48”, to prevent possible maintenance problems.

Ÿ Location of sensor should be away from any internal obstruction such as cross members, ladder etc.

Ÿ Optimal sensor location for center-fill/center-discharge cylindrical vessels is 1/6 the vessel diameter from the vessel wall.

SENSOR LOCATION

Ÿ The EE300 sensor should be installed ensuring that the sensing weight will drop plumb. The sensor flange should be mounted so that it is horizontal and level. This ensures proper movement of sensing weight and cable minimizing wear and reducing or eliminating maintenance requirements.

Ÿ Constructing a nozzle on the top of the vessel roof may be required in order to prepare a level flat mounting surface for the EE300 sensor.

Ÿ Please make sure the covers to the EE300 sensor compartments are secured properly with the attachment screws so that each compartment is air tight and sealed.

INSTALLATION TIPS

Ÿ Power wiring and signal wiring should be separated. Do not run these together in the same conduit.

Ÿ Ensure a flexible length of wiring inside enclosure between conduit entrances and terminals to avoid pull/drag on the circuit boards.
