2014香港公開室內賽艇錦標賽暨慈善長途接力賽,本校取得女

子中學生隊際接力冠軍。

個人獎項方面,中二施俊源和中二杜家諭同學被選為香港

小童群益會香港小特首,而施俊源同學更獲得北區優秀學生選

舉初中組冠軍。

在「其他學習經歷」方面,本校舉辦中一生活教育營、參

觀博物館、參觀藝術中心及職業博覽、文化表演欣賞等,同學

亦參與歌唱比賽及「甲寅電影節」。此外,學校每年均有舉辦

遍及台灣、澳洲和英國等地的境外考察和交流活動,以及一年

一度的「服務學習在中國」活動。本校更在課堂內安排田野考

察、參觀及工作坊等全方位學習活動以加強學科學習。

本校十分重視英語學習環

境,除中文、中史、普通話及

通識教育外,其他科目均以英

語為教學語言;更透過不同活

動,如英語周、英語角、甲寅電影節、全球視野周、英語尖子

計劃、英文閱讀計劃、暑期英語營及英語遊學團等,營造豐富

的英語學習環境。此外,本校在初中亦推行「跨學科英語課

程」(Language Across the Curriculum),使學生能善用英語

學習歷史、地理及科學等科目。本校將繼續靈活運用資源,透

過一連串跨科目的學習活動,提供更多機會予同學提升聽說讀

寫的能力。

局語文教育支援計劃,在中一級中文科推行「優化寫作教學、

促進校本課程發展」計劃。此外,本校為中一及中二級設計校

本課程,通過跨科協作,有系統地培育學生在學習方面的共通

能力。學生從中一級開始建立個人「學習歷程檔案」(SLP),

為自己制訂學習目標,定期作出反思及改進計劃。在中二級則

推行專題研習,透過跨科協作,訓練學生掌握各種學習及思考

技能,為高中各科的探究學習奠定基礎。我們亦鼓勵學生參與

「才藝『寅』生」計劃及「全『寅』發展獎勵計劃」,豐富他

領袖發展

生涯規劃教育旨在為同學提供升

學及職業資訊、輔導及支援,協助他

們在生涯規劃方面作審慎和理性的決

定。本校通過與校友、家長、非政府組

織和業界建立伙伴關係,籌辦全校性及

小組活動,包括班主任課、探索升學和

就業途徑活動、家長講座等,提升同學

在升學途徑上的認知和決策技巧。

在本校的價值教育架構下,

我們積極為中一至中六同學提

供循序漸進的品格發展機會。每

年,本校為有志成為朋輩輔導員的高中學生提供適當培訓,讓他

們透過分享及活動,協助中一新生適應中學生活,活動包羅萬

有,包括「同樂日」、「小老師計劃」及「考試攻略

訓練班」等。此外,「全『寅』發展獎勵計劃」鼓勵

中一至中三級同學訂立目標,發揮潛能,追求卓越,

建立正確的人生觀。我們亦定時舉辦講座及活動,建

立獨立及批判性思維的能力,拓闊本土及國際視野,

使之成為對社會具責任感的公民。透過多元化的課外

活動,學生建立關愛、堅毅、盡責、領導、智慧等良

好品格及才能。

我們深信甲寅同學皆擅於領導,因此致力發展他們的領袖才

能。歷年來,我們主要透過「服務學習」的理念培育學生領袖,

在不同層面為他們提供實踐機會。在學校層面,同學參與不同幹

事會、校隊和小組的領導工作,除領袖生、朋輩輔導員、學生會

外,尚有其他不同途徑讓同學成為領袖,例如,同學從參與舞台

工作組的場務管理、燈光或音響部門的工作中,擔任不同的崗

位,循序漸進地成為領袖之才。在社區層面,同學服務長者等有

需要人士,以及擔任區內小學的功課輔導小老師,而「英文閱讀

大使計劃」是當中的亮點,本校同學到北區數

間小學出任「閱讀大使」,啟導小學生的閱讀

興趣。此外,同學的服務學習亦延伸境外。其

中,他們參與「服務學習在中國」活動已歷十

年之久。今年,本校將與區內小學共同籌辦新

加坡交流團,讓同學出任小學生的領袖,盡展

服務學習的精神。

The school motto “Diligence, Frugality, Loyalty and Faithfulness” is our guiding principle in the moral and intellectual development of our students. We strive to promote positive values and attitudes, and encourage students to lead a full and meaningful life.

Our students attained excellent results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) 2014.

44% of students attained Level 4 or above in both Chinese and English Language.

Student Achievements Diverse Learning Achievements We have a brilliant record in inter-school contests. Over the years, students have obtained numerous prizes in the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival (Chinese and English) and Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. In the 66th Hong Kong Schools MusicFestival,S.2TangTszTanwasawardedthefirstinZhengSolo (Intermediate). Our school handbell team also got the Gold Award in the Hong Kong International Handbell Olympics 2014: Secondary School Handbells.

We also attain enviable resu l t s i n Ma themat i cs contests. Students obtained a total of 58 individual awards in the 2014 Hong Kong and Macao Mathematical Olympiad Open Contest and the HuaXia Cup Mathematics Competition 2014. S.6 Lee Chun Yin got a silver medal in the National Olympiad in Informatics 2013, a bronze medal in the International Olympiad in Informatics and Certificate of Distinction in Canadian Computing Competition 2013. In the Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics 2014, our school was awarded Grand School Prize (Second Runner Up) and S.5 Li Sai Ming got the Silver Medal in the Junior Group, whilst S.5 Chan Man Chak and S.5 Chau Man Hin got Silver Medals in the Senior Group.

Sports have been one of our strengths and we have excelled in a variety of joint school and inter-school competitions. We were Overall Boys’ and Girls’ Champions in Tai Po & North District Branch Inter-school Competitions 2014. We also got the Overall Boys’ and Girls’ Champions in the HKSSF (Tai Po & N.D. Branch) Inter-school Swimming Competition for the eleventh time in a roll in 2014. In the Hong Kong Open Indoor Rowing Championships andCharityRowathan2014,wecamefirstinWomen'sSecondarySchools Team Relay.

In terms of individual prizes, S.2 Sze Chun Yuen and S.2 ToKaYuwereselectedfor theBoys'&Girls'ClubsAssociationof Hong Kong: Hong Kong Junior Chief Executive, and S.2 Sze Chun Yuen also got Champion in Junior Secondary Group: North District Best Student Election.

Moreover, many activities are organized for students, for example, S1 Life Skills Camp, visits to museums, the Arts Centre, Careers Expo as well as cultural performance appreciation. Students also take part in singing contests and the Kap Yan Film Festival. We arrange overseas study tours every year to countries such as Taiwan, Australia and England. There is also an annual service-learning programme in China. In addition, life-wide learning activities such as field trips, visits and workshops are held during lesson time to strengthen subject learning.

English Learning Environment

School-based Gifted Education Programme

School-based Curriculum and Catering for Learner Diversity

Our school values Engl ish and act ively fosters the learning environment. Except Chinese Language, Chinese History, Liberal Studies and Putonghua, all subjects are taught using English as the medium of instruction. Activities like English Speaking Weeks, English Corner, Film Festival, Global Awareness Weeks, Engl ish reading programme, summer English Camp and study tours are organized to provide a rich English learning environment. In junior forms, the Language Across the Curriculum (LAC) programme helps students to develop the language skills to study History, Geography and Science in English. Our school will continue to actively deploy resources to develop students’ reading, writing, listening and speaking skills via a range of cross-curricular learning activities.

Our school offers enhancement classes in Chinese, English, Mathematics and Liberal Studies to provide opportunities for the more able students to pursue academic excellence. We organize a range of school-based Gifted Education programmes for students to excel in their talents. Besides subsidizing them to

attend gifted education programmes organized by various universities, gifted students are also encouraged to participate in programmes such as ‘Hong Kong Junior Chief Executives’, ‘The Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme’, ‘TWGHs Elite Nurturing Programme’ and ‘TWGHs Support Scheme for Elite Sport and Art students’ to realize their goals and develop their talents.

Our school has joined the ‘Chinese Language Support Scheme’ organized by the Education Bureau to promote the ‘writing to learn’ programme for S.1 students. A school-based curriculum is designed for S.1 and S.2 to equip students systematically with generic skills of learning. Under this curriculum, study and thinking skills are taught through collaboration between subjects. S.1 students have the opportunity to develop their personal Student Learning Profile (SLP) through the stages of goal setting, planning, implementation and evaluation. S.2 students are also well equipped with skills required for their enquiry studies in the NSS curriculum through project learning. The ‘Kap Yanners Talent Scheme’ and the ‘Whole Person Development Award’ augment the Other Learning Experiences (OLE). We pay due emphasis on catering for learner diversity. S.1 students are divided into groups in Chinese and English lessons to facilitate more class interactions. For senior form students, we provide subject enrichment programmes for the high achievers, such as debates, public speaking and thinking skill training sessions. Tutorial classes are also arranged for the students in need after school and on Saturdays, with the aim of helping students to lay a solid foundation for academic development.

Leadership Development

Life-planning Education aims at providing further study and career information, guidance and assistance to facilitate students in making rational decisions on their career planning. Partnerships are built with alumni, parents, non-government organizations and the business sector. School-wide career guidance activities (including form teacher

periods, further study and career exploration and parent talks) are arranged to enhance s tudents ’ awareness and decision making skills over their study pathways and career choices.

Guided by our school-based Values Education Framework, we promote the character development of students progressively from S.1 to S.6. Every year, we train a group of senior-form students to serve as Peer Counsellors. They help S.1 students to adapt to secondary school life through sharing and activities

suchas 'FunDay', the 'PeerTeachingScheme'andexaminationskillsclasses. ‘The Whole Person Development Award’ encourages S.1 to S.3 students to achieve higher goals and instil moral qualities. It aims to unleash students’ potential and assist them in establishing positive life attitudes. Talks and activities are held to foster their critical and independent thinking skills and nurture them into responsible citizens with both a local and global vision. Through participation in a large variety of clubs and associations, students are equipped with love and care, perseverance, responsibility, leadership and intelligence.

We believe all Kap Yanners are leaders. Thus, we have initiated a number of programmes to develop student leadership. Throughout the years, service-learning is employed to nurture leadership of students. Opportunities are provided at school, in the local community and outside Hong Kong. In school, students participate in various committees, teams and groups as leaders such as prefects, peer counsellors and Student Association. There are many other ways for students to be leaders. For instance, students are trained in stage management, lighting and sound operation in the Stage Crew, in which they take up different roles at different stages of leadership development. In the local community, our students serve people in need, such as the elderly and the primary school students. One highlight is the ‘Reading Buddy Scheme’ in which our student leaders serve as buddies in reading for some primary schools in North District.

Our students also have chances to serve outside Hong Kong. A cross-border service-learning programme in China has been held for students for more than 10 years. This year, we will co-organize a service-learning trip to Singapore with a primary school in North District and our students will serve as the leaders for primary school students.
