Key findings of Dropouts in the Twin Cities

• Within the Twin Cities School district, the Minneapolis Public School District’s dropout rate is 9% higher than St. Paul District.

• By gender, the average of dropout is 46% higher in males than females in the Twin Cities.

• The ethnical group with a higher dropout rate in the Twin Cities is American Indian/Alaskan Native with an average of 21%, followed by Hispanics, with an average of 17%, Afro-Americans with 10%, and Asian/Pacific Islander with 6%.

• The ethnical group with the lowest dropout rate in the Twin Cities is White Americans with an average of 3%.

• American Indian dropout is 7 times higher than White Americans. Hispanics is 5 ½ times, Afro Americans is 3 times, and Asian/Pacific is 2 times.

Minneapolis is 70% higher than St. Paul.

• Special Education Students dropout is 12%, but in Minneapolis is 28% higher than St. Paul.

• Students receiving Free/Reduced price lunch dropout average is 10%, but in Minneapolis is 25% higher than St. Paul.
