A Vision of Students Today

Findings1. Many students 8-9002. Many very positive3. Many think it was hard to study on
their own4. Many liked the studypointsystem5. Many of the students have now left
their school librarian posts6. Many became head of schools/ or
other adminstative posts later!

Upper secundary schools- librarians - and teachers- 5 days- assignments in-between- local tailored- 14 out of 19 counties- from 2004-2009- more than 400 schools- net: http://www.bibsent.no/vgs (closed)
Findings1. Well recieved in 13 0f 19 counties –
many free of charge
2. Many liked the close connction betweentherory and pracsis
3. Many start with better cooperationbetween librarians and the teachers
4. Many think there was a lot to do betweenthe days
The Web 2.0 school
Internetbased over 10 month- theme: Web 2.0 and the library- used a wiki for adminstration: http://biblioteksentralen.wikispaces.com/web20skolen
- 3 kinds of attendees: physical, virtual and asyncronic- everthing recorded in real-time- therory and workshops
Findings1. Many of the students tryed out to be
virtual students – and like this!
2. The workshop in the afternoon was more difficult to do for the homesitters
3. The study and pracis of the web 2.0 toolswas exiting – but
4. Not many used the tools after the cource

Started 3 month before in a NING2 days in March- 1 ½ days normal- ½ unconferance with 8 big and 4 small themes

Findings1. In the first YSL1 apr. 250 attendees
was very active
2. YSL2 was to late into the summer –on the north part of the world –and more silent
3. The content was perhaps to high/ too ”web 2.0” for the ordinary SL

What now...•What do we define as suitable subjects for international skills development of school librarians, that come from a variety of different systems in the European countries? •In what form should these actions have to include the target goals? •Is it important to offer larger courses, or is it better to offer many small courses that can be directed towards new subjects and challenges as we go along. •Is it important to get credits, or is it enough to get a diploma. •We can perhaps use Grundtvig- or Minerva EU-programs as active participants.
