SPECIAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTSStudents who have not completed their B.A., B.B.A. and B.Sc. or equivalent at Crandall, are required to take an additional 6 credit hours in Religious Studies courses in order to meet Crandall’s B.A., B.A.A., or B.Sc. equivalency requirements.

Crandall has partnerships with schools through AEI in order to enable students to complete their internships aboard.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to experience different cultures around the world, and to make contacts for future teaching job opportunities.

Abroad H igh l igh tsThe B.Ed. & B.T.Ed. internship is comprised of two parts: the first part is a 10 day in-class observation in the school setting (locally or abroad).

For B.Ed. Elementary & Secondary, the second part is a minimum 15 week full-time teaching internship. For B.T.Ed. students, the second part is a 16 week internship.

Crandall’s Bachelor of Technical Education program has an excellent reputation in the public schools. The program enables students to use the latest classroom technology and teaching techniques.

HAVE A DESIRE TO TEACH ASPECIAL INTEREST?

The B.T.Ed. degree is granted upon the completion of 69 credit hours prior to training and/or experience. 18 of these credit hours will be addressed through an 18-week Internship in a formal school setting.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTSSuccessful applicants must have at least the equivalent of 30 credit hours and/or work experience in areas such as Business Technology, ICT, Culinary Arts, Interior Design, Trades or Hospitality.

Preference for admission will be given to those who can provide evidence of successful experience with adolescents.

The B.T.Ed. is a 138 credit hour program intended to equip individuals who possess previous technical skills and training with 21st century teacher training.

It is possible to complete the B.T.Ed. degree in 16 months if a student enters the program with 69 credit hours from prior training & experience.

Graduates from the B.T.Ed. degree, are eligible to apply for a Level 4 Teaching Certificate from the NB Department of Education.

This 18 week internship includes two weeks of observation and 16 consecutive weeks of actual teaching experience.

This 36 credit hour M.Ed. is offered with a concentration of Inclusionary Practices. Application-based courses equip educators with the tools needed to apply their knowledge to their everyday work tasks. Graduates may go on to serve as teachers, administrators, literacy coaches, reading specialists, resource educators, guidance counselors, or researchers.

LOOKING TO ENHANCE YOUR TEACHING ABILITY?Our M.Ed. program is designed forstudents who need to work around a busy schedule. Students can register on a course by course basis, and courses are generally taught in four-hour classes held weekly on Saturday mornings.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants to the M.Ed. degree program are required to have a 60 credit hour Bachelor of Education degree, or equivalent, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B) and at least the equivalent of one-year of full-time teaching experience. The M.Ed. is a 36 credit hour

degree, which allows graduates who hold a Certificate 5 with the New Brunswick Department of Education to advance to a Certificate 6.

M.Ed. students may also choose 3 courses (as electives)that count toward the Principal’s Certificate: Administrative Theory; Supervision and Instructional Leadership; and Individual Student Assessment.

Summer course options are available and tend to be popular among classroom teachers.
