Steps taken:We initially investigated problematic areas and then embarked on a full system analysis after speaking with senior management to fully understand the school’s ICT aspirations.

Installing an alternative internet service was our initial project, to ensure the school could be more in control of its ICT. The download speed was increased and allowed a number of devices to all work at the same time at a fast pace.

Implementation of a controlled filtering system followed, allowing access to previously blocked websites and online content.

Our experts will provide you with a complete wireless networking recommendation – the Basic Site Survey is free of charge.

The survey will involve a site visit from one of our experienced engineers. The engineer will view the environment, layout and any existing wireless infrastructure.

St Botolph’s Church of England Primary School approached ACS to help them with their IT systems as they were experiencing a slow, unreliable and unstable network through their current providers.

GREENHILLPRIMARY SCHOOL

Greenhill Primary School in Wakefield contacted ACS for a quote when their ICT contract renewal came up with their previous provider and as they say - the rest is history!

Steps taken:After an initial assessment by the ACS education team, it was clear to see the whole network wasn’t fit for purpose and needed a complete overhaul.

ACS wanted to know where the school saw its ICT system in five years time and then presented a strategy to get Greenhill to that position. The school was extremely impressed by the professionalism, vision and clear understanding of their needs, and appointed ACS as its new ICT provider.

ACS initially installed a new server - which is not only quicker but safer too, a new wireless system, a new internet offering and innovative Clevertouch technology which replaced outdated projectors and whiteboards in all classrooms.

New iPads have been provided with survivor cases allowing the devices to be used across the vast grounds of the school which will be protected against accidental mishaps!

The school also benefits from an onsite engineer, based at Greenhill every Tuesday morning. Who is on hand to deal with any IT issues and offer advice the education provider may have.

SharePoint

SharePoint is an online framework that integrates all key programmes, documents and websites in an easy to use format, for all staff working in an education provider to access at the click of a button. Each system is tailored by our highly skilled team to suit the requirements of each individual school.

Some like their students to access certain pages to share homework or class work for reference at home - security settings are put in place to ensure only the intended persons have access to key information and pages.

The ACS SharePoint portal provides a range of easy to use ‘content management’ tools and a powerful search engine so your resources can be securely stored in one place and accessed from home or school and using any device – PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Since we have invested into the internet cloud based Office 365 SharePoint solution, the platform from ACS has made the way we work as a school more controlled and streamlined. All key documentation such as class planning information and calendars are stored in one handy yet secure location and can be accessed from anywhere at the click of a button

CASESTUDY

The college had to go out to tender for the innovative technology and ACS was appointed after the quotation process for a number of reasons; turnaround time, flexibility, advice given, value for money and also coming highly recommended by a college trusted partner.

LEEDS COLLEGE

Leeds College of Building offers construction courses to more than 2,000 students aged 18+ at its Hunslet Campus which is a brand new state-of-the-art facility.

Process and Implementation After an initial site visit by an ACS consultant it was decided where the 65” television screen, 18 55” Clevertouch screens and five interactive white boards would be installed most efficiently, the college needed a very quick turnaround over an eight day period.

The interactive screens were installed across 18 classrooms to be used as teaching aids. Already proving a big hit with students and staff alike as they can be connected to smart phones and other handheld devices to make lessons fully interactive and engaging.

The large 65” television screen was installed in reception but a number of challenges had to be overcome as the wall the screen was to be mounted onto wasn’t strong enough and hadn’t been strengthened during the initial build. With this in mind the ACS team sprung into action and helped the college staff come up with another solution in order to successfully put up the 85kg mass.

Once all technology was in place, 12 key members of the Leeds College of Building team were given comprehensive training on how to use it - ensuring no down time when the doors opened to students but also making sure all tutors were 100% confident in using the new technology.

CASESTUDY

It was approaching the end of the year and Beeston Primary School was evaluating its current ICT Provision. They decided they wanted to step up the external support they received so went out to tender for the contract.

BEESTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

Steps taken:After an initial meeting with Beeston Primary School’s senior leadership team and conducting a site survey to look at what ICT software and hardware was in place, ACS provided a detailed report showing how they could assist with future proofing the education provider’s ICT.

Thorne Brooke Primary School contacted ACS more than five years ago and their professional relationship just keeps getting stronger and stronger! Process and Implementation After an initial survey into the technology already in place, ACS commenced management of the school’s ICT provision, handling all day-to-day admin and adhoc technology projects for the site that offers education to more than 400 pupils from nursery to year 6.

The next stage in the development of the Thorne Brooke ICT adventure was to install a faster, safer wireless network for all pupils and staff to benefit from – ensuring staff and students could access the internet from a range of teaching aids.

The most recent project was to install 13 65” Clevertouch screens into all classrooms – firmly bringing learning to life.

Sahara Clevertouch screens give teachers the opportunity to present, share and collaborate work and information across any device and platform. They are the next generation of interactive solutions in the classroom.

Since joining forces with ACS, they have transformed our ICT systems and ensure we are always kept up to date with any new technology on the market. The new Clevertouch screens are phenomenal, they are simple to use but look so effective.
