In the end shot of our music video, the original footage starts out of focus and then ends in focus. We wanted to change this round so that it starts in focus and ends out of focus to bring a close to the music video, so we reversed the speed.

We wanted to create smooth transitions from one shot to another so that they don’t snap from one shot to the next. We used the ‘dip to black’ effect to make each shot fade into the next one, with the ‘dip to white’ effect making each transition smooth and professional looking.

The threshold within the ‘Luma Key’ effect controls the black in the image and the Cutoff controls white. We wanted to create a similar opening image to ‘The 1975 – Settle Down’ music video. To do this, we changed the Cutoff to 100.0% so it removed the white colour from the logo image to make the writing transparent. By keeping the Threshold at 0.0% it allowed us to create a professional and slick looking opening shot which established the bands name, creating a sustainable music video as the bands name will always be known.

To be able to establish the band’s name within the music video we created image ‘A’ and image ‘B’. Image ‘A’ was the Catfish and The Bottlemen Logo and image ‘B’ is the image of the trees.
