EDGEProgramTeamsEducationandDevelopmentGrantforEmployability(EDGE)

1. CampusRecreationTeamThe

Recreation

Assistants

will

build

and

strengthen

their

job

skills

while

increasing

their

familiarity

with

the

breadthanddepthoftheprogramsandservicesofferedbyCampusRecreation. Throughabroadsamplingof

experiences,thesestudentswillhavetheopportunitytoimprovetheirskillsin:communication,time

management,customerservice,selfappraisal,selfdirection,andteamwork. Theywillalsohaveopportunities

todemonstratetheir:reliability,initiative,abilitytofollowdirections,abilitytoexercisegoodjudgment,and

abilitytolearnfromtheirmistakes.Dutiesmayinvolve:

Assistingwithpromotions(e.g.,postingflyers,initiatingwordofmouthmarketing) MonitoringandcontrollingparticipationinGroupFitnessclasses Assistingwithcrowdcontrolandpolicyeducationduringbusytimes(e.g.,swimlessons,specialevents,

facilityrentals)

AssistingwithCampusoutreach(e.g.,deliveringpedometersandotherpromotionalmaterials) Participatinginaweeklyreflection,feedbackandplanningmeeting

2. CareerandMoneyManagement(CMM)TeamTheCMMEDGETeamwillassistwithspecialprojectsandmarketing/promotionactivitiesfortheCareer

Center,FinancialFitnessProgramandAlumniSharingKnowledge(ASK)Program. Theteamwillhelppromote

CareerandMoneyManagementevents(jobfairs,workshops,networkingevents,etc.)atbothcampuses.This

willbothdriveawarenessandattendance,aswellasintroducetheteamtothevarietyofjobskill

developmentandcareerexplorationopportunitiesavailabletoDePaulstudents.Dutiesmayinvolve:

Postingannouncements,postersandflyersinresidencehalls,campusbuildings,etc. Suggestingandcreatingmarketingmaterialsandsocialmediacampaignsandassistingwithcampus

outreach

Assistingwithspecialprojects,suchasfocusgroups,blogging,andjob/internshipresearch Learningaboutdepartmentservicesandprogramsbyattendingevents,participatinginservicesand

assisting

at

certain

events

Participatinginteammeetings/checkinsandtheCMMEDGEonlinediscussiongroup3. CenterforAccess&Attainment,ResearchLab

ParticipatingintheResearchLabwillhelpstudentsdevelopbasicresearchskillsthattheycanuseintheirown

workonindependentstudyprojects,whenassistinggraduatestudentsoraspartoftheirlabdutiesincurrent

orfutureresearchassistantpositionsoncampus.Goalsinclude:

1) Increasestudentsknowledgeofbasicresearchmethodologiesandtechniques2) Developcriticalthinkingfordesigning,readingandevaluatingacademicliterature3) Offeraforumtoengageinproductivedialogueaboutstudentsresearchinterests4) Helpfreshmendevelopskillsthatwillpreparethemforfutureoncampusresearchandother

academicassistantshippositions

4. HousingServicesGreenTeamTheGreenTeamsfocusisonenvironmentalconservationandeducationintheresidencehalls.Membersof

theGreenTeamwillcontributebyfacilitatingrecyclingcompetitions,creatingmonthlygreenbulletin

boards,conductinginformationalprograms,leadinggarbage/recyclingaudits,managingconservation

campaigns,andparticipatinginotherdepartmentalendeavorsrelatedtosustainability.

5. OfficeofMulticulturalStudentSuccess:P.A.T.H.S.toStudentSuccessTeamTeammemberswillactasspokespersonstopromoteallworkshopsandeventsrelatedtotheProvidingAccess

ThroughHolisticSupport(P.A.T.H.S.). Studentsintheteamwillhelpstrategizeandimplementmarketingplans

topromotetheP.A.T.H.S.programacrosscampus.Inaddition,theteamwillassistwithlogisticsforeventsto

buildcommunitywithotherP.A.T.H.Smembers.Dutieswillinvolve:

Managesocialmediacommunications fortheP.A.T.H.S.toSuccessTeam CreateanddistributeflyerstostudentsabouttheP.A.T.H.S.Program ServeasliaisonstoempowerstudentstocompletetheP.A.T.H.S.program AssistinplanningeventsthatbuildscommunitywithP.A.T.H.S.members Assistwithphonecallcampaigns Participateinteammeetings

6. OfficeofStudentInvolvement(OSI)StreetTeamTheOSIStreetTeamwillHittheStreetsondaystherearelargeeventsoncampustohelpspreadtheword

andencouragestudentstoattend. TheStreetTeamwilldistributepromotionalmaterialsacrossboththe

LoopandLincolnParkcampuses. Theeventsthatwillbepromotedincludeuniversitywideprograms

sponsoredbytheOfficeofStudentInvolvementandtheDePaulActivitiesBoardsuchastheGetOuttheVote

events,FamilyWeekendprogramming,andpopularspeakers.

Throughthiswork,theEDGEstudentswillmeetawidevarietyofstudents,learnhowtonavigateboththe

LincolnParkandLoopcampuses,discoverwhateventshappenoncampus,andlearnaboutthevarietyof

waystobeengagedoncampus.

7. ResidentialEducationMarketingTeamTheResEdMarketingTeamwillassistbuildingstaffinmarketinglargescaledepartmentalinitiatives.Theywill

beresponsibleformonitoringandupdatingthedepartmentssocialmediaaccounts,includingFacebook,

Twitter,andOrgSync.Theywillassistthedepartmentincreatingsocialandinformationalcampaignsto

educatestudents.Theywillalsousevariousmarketingtoolstopromotestudentparticipationinassessment

initiatives. Additionally,theEDGEMarketingandPRTeamwillassiststaffinidentifyingissueswithinthe

residencehallsandwaysinwhichtheycanbeaddressed.TheywillbetrainedinmarketingandAdobe

publishingtools.

8. StudentLeadershipInstitute(SLI)LEADTeam AssistinpromotinganddevelopingSLIeventsandinitiativestoundergraduatestudents Assistwithcreativemarketingandoutreacheffortstoincreasenewandfirstyearstudentinterestin

leadershipandparticipationinSLI

ParticipateintheCertificateProgramandassistwithlogisticsandmanagementoftheprogram AssistwithdailyadministrativeandprogramspecifictasksinSLI Coordinateanddeveloponesociallyresponsibleeventorinitiativeforthespringquarterasateam Participateinweeklyprofessionaldevelopmentmeetingsandquarterlyteaminitiatives TeammemberswouldalsobeencouragedtoparticipateintheEmergingLeadersProgram,Winter

LeadershipConference,DiverseCityTours,amongstmanyotherSLIprogramsandinitiatives

9. UMIN,OfficeofReligiousDiversityMinistrySupportTeamStudentswillbelearningandworkingtosupportministryhappeninginareligiouslypluralisticsettingon

campus. StudentswillbematchedupwithachaplainorprofessionalstaffintheOfficeofReligiousDiversity

andworktosupportthatareaofministry. TheareamaybeCenterforJewishLife,CenterforMuslimLife,

DePaulChristianMinistries,LoopMinistries,EscueladeFormacionenPastoralJuvenilorResidenceHall

Ministry. Possibleresponsibilitiesmayentaillearningandworkingwithliturgyandworship,faithandreligious

programming,communication

&

marketing

and

some

administrative

work.

Students

on

this

team

will

also

worktogethertosupportinterfaithactivities.

10. UniversityMinistry VincentianCommunityServiceOffice(VCSO),ResHallService&JusticePosse(RSJP)TheResHallService&JusticePossewillrecruitfellowfirstyearstudentstoUniversityMinistrysfaith,service,

andjusticeopportunities. Tosupporttheirefforts,RSJPmemberswillcommittoweeklyserviceasagroup

withacommunitypartnerconnectedtoaResidenceHall. Inadditiontotheirweeklyservice,RSJPstudents

willhostadvocacyeventsintheirrespectiveResidenceHallstoraiseawarenessandengagetheirfellow

firstyearstudents. RSJPstudentswillalsomeetwiththeirEDGEMentoronaweeklybasis;meetmonthly

withtheMinistryCoordinator;attendmonthlyVIABig8sessionsandparticipateinamonthlyVincentiansIn

Action(VIA)workshop. Additionally,RSJPstudentswillassistinprojectdevelopmentfor,andrecruitment

within,theirrespectiveResidenceHallsforVincentianServiceDay.
