Firstly I would like to thank all the staff, students and community members who supported the ‘Dare to Lead Snapshot’ process and unpacking. We now have a prioritised list of recommendations to act on for 2015. Secondly, I would like to thank all the staff, parents and students for their participation and support in the Eden Whale Festival. Feedback from the community and event organisers was very positive about our students; at the opening of the Whale festival at the Museum, at the parade, the Koori dancers and the SCLC dancers. Thank you to all for helping to make this happen. It adds to the pride of our school to see the students and staff involved in community events and showcases some of the many talents our students have. I would like to congratulate the staff for their efforts in the constant support of the Active After School Communities Program. Eden was nominated as a super site for the program and was listed in the top 5 finalists in NSW for the Super Site award out of 1900 AASC sites this year! Well done EDEN!!!! Finally, I would like to add a special thank you for the kind donation from Robert and Danielle Pearce of a security camera for the school. I am currently working with the School Security unit to organise installation of the camera. I am proud to be the Acting Principal of such a wonderful school that has such a supportive community. Coming soon…..

Tuesday, 4th November 2014 Term 4, Week 5

It gives me great pleasure to write a report thanking and praising our wonderful school and its community.

Have a great week.

Mathletics Update Week 5

Special Mathletics Update

Since the start of the year, the students at Eden Public School have earned more than 1,530,480 activity points and 330,609 live points (achieved in Live Maths) while completing their activities.

Mathletics Update Week 5

I would like to congratulate the student who achieved their GOLD Certificate and the 3 students who received their Silver Certificates this week. Congratulations also to the 31 students who obtained a Bronze Certificate. Remember: to get a Silver certificate you must get four Bronze certificates. Bronze certificates are earned by getting 1000 points in a week (Monday morning to Sunday night), about 5-10 activities in total. Just check the rocket ship to see your weekly progress.

Congratulations also to 1/2O who were last week’s leading class with 11 certificates. Second place goes to 1/2B (8) and third to 3/4K (5). Just remember students have full 24hr access to Mathletics on the Internet and therefore can complete activities at home if they wish.

Technology Lesson Update- Camp Photographs This term, as part of Technology lessons, primary students will be making a “Photo Story” movie about their 2014 camp experiences. Therefore, I am seeking as many photographs from this year’s camps as possible. These photographs, preferably in digital format, will only be used by Eden Public School students for this project. Any camp photographs will be greatly appreciated.

The Sapphire Coast Learning Community Arts Challenge Exhibition was held last month in Merimbula. The theme this year was "From Where I Stand". Sixteen schools were invited to enter their artwork. Eden had entries from 5/6L, 3/4N and 3/4W. Students from 3/4N designed and made a 3D sculpture which received first place for the most outstanding 3D artwork. Their sculpture is now on display in the school office for those who would like to see it. Kendall Doyle of 5/6L received a book voucher from Bournda Environmental Education Centre for her artwork depicting the Great Barrier Reef before and after global warming. Well done to all those students and teachers who put in the effort to enter their work. Elective Sport Program 2014 This Friday, students in Stage 2 and 3 will be participating in their elective sports activity. The Elective Sports Program runs over a five week period, concluding on Friday 5th December, 2014. This year we are offering swimming ($3.00), golf ($7), tennis ($2), walking, and ball games. Students who have returned their notes have since been informed of their selection. Please be aware that depending on their choice, the costs and arrangements will differ. All money will be collected by the classroom teacher on Friday morning. NOTE: There are still 38 students who have not returned their elective sport note to the office.
