THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - NOVEMBER 17, 2019
ctcsyakima.org | 575-5604 CTCSYakima
Dear Holy Family Parish-
It is difficult to believe that Thanksgiving is upon us! The staff and students of CTCS have settled into their routines and the school year is off to a successful start. There have already been several events and programs that our school community has enjoyed.
We had a wonderful STREAM Night in October. Families enjoyed STREAM activities and our 8th grade class provided delicious pulled pork sandwiches. We thank all of our staff, student volunteers, and 8th grade class for their time and commitment. Without
them, this event would not have been possible. CTCS Honor Roll students were recognized this past week for all their hard work the first quarter of the year. We also recognized our students who showed spiritual, academics and service throughout the quarter. Later this month, we will enjoy our yearly Grandparents/Special Persons Day. Our students love spending time with their cherished family mem-bers and friends and showing them their classrooms.
Our students actively participated in several exciting activities over the last month. Our Preschool, Kin-dergarten, 2nd and 3rd grade classes visited the pumpkin patch, them the opportunity to learn about fall and farm life. Our 4th grade class visited the Tieton Dam at Rimrock and enjoyed a presentation by WATT SMART. The middle school students had the opportunity to participate in a Shadow Day at La Salle High School.
This past Thursday, November 14, we had the privilege of dedicating the beautiful new electric sign for CTCS on 56th Avenue. We thank the Monsignor Ecker Foundation and the anonymous donor for providing us with the opportunity of sharing the great things on this sign that CTCS and Holy Family Religious Education have to offer. We were honored to have Monsignor Ecker join us for this events. He continues to have a huge impact on our school and our history.
We have been working this past year on our school NWEA Accreditation. We are excited to have com-pleted the process and look forward to our visit in March of 2020. While going through the process we have confirmed for ourselves the amazing things CTCS does and also have identified some areas for improvement to make us even better. CTCS has SAS, Spiritual, Academics and Service and are culti-vating students in the Yakima Valley. Over the next few months, please watch for updates on our pro-cess and please keep us in your prayers as we continue to prepare for this visit.
Looking ahead we have many great events coming up! 365 Raffle- we are currently selling our 365 raffle tickets. If you are interested in purchasing or selling tickets for us, please contact the school office at 575-5604. We will also be selling them at the Holy Family Bazaar on Saturday, November 23. Please consider purchasing tickets in support of the students of CTCS.
The Christmas Program on Thursday, December 19 at 6:30pm at Holy Family. All are welcome to come see what our Preschool – 8th Grade students are learning as well as performances from our choruses and band.
On the weekend of November 23-24, after all Holy Family Masses, we ask that you prayerfully consider a donation to our CTCS Giving Wall. The Giving Wall will be located in the foyer of the church. Dona-tions will enhance the current programs provided at CTCS. We are always asking for prayers, time and donations. If you would like more information on how you can give to the students of CTCS, please contact Katie Register at [email protected].
Have a blessed month of November,
Heather Remillard

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - NOVEMBER 17, 2019
THE LORD COMES TO RULE THE EARTH WITH JUSTICE. FIRST READING
Malachi 3:19-20
The day of justice is coming, says the Lord.
GOSPEL READING Luke 21:5-19
Jesus predicts the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and warns his followers that persecution will come before the end time.
Holy Family Catholic Church Yakima
November 24, 2019
Readings for Next Weekend
SOLEMNITY OF OUR LORD JESUS
CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE
1 st Reading: 2 Samuel 5:1-3
Psalm 122:1-2,3-4,4-5
2nd Reading: Colossians 1:12-20
Gospel: Luke 23:35-43
SECOND READING 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12
Paul urges the community to follow his example and to earn their keep.
Children, while innocently naïve about most world events, are also profoundly sensitive to the concerns felt by adults. We can help children interpret adult concerns by sharing information about current events in appropriate ways. We can also put these concerns in the light of God's kingdom and the assurance of God's care for us.
Discuss with your children one or more current events or a situation in your family that may challenge our trust in a God who cares for us. Then read together today's Gospel, Luke 21:5-19. Notice how Jesus said that even when his disciples are persecuted, God would be with them.
Together with your children, talk about ways in which God might bring good out of the difficult events you discussed. Talk together about some actions you might take as a family to make better the situations you discussed. Conclude by praying for the needs of the people involved in the events you named. In prayer, place each of these difficult situations into God's hands.

Sometimes when we have difficult days, feelings like sadness and fear can narrow our focus so that all we see or feel is the hard things. It might be hard to trust that God is with us, caring for us, on these hard days. Jesus reminds us of the bigger picture—that God is always watching over us, in good times and in hard times. We can trust that God cares for us always.
Family Prayer
Instead of questions this week Let’s pray for all people who are struggling.
