Computer Hardware Supported

The following table details the minimum hardware specifications required to operatePortal.

Attributes Minimum Specifications

Processor P3,500 MHz

RAM 256 MB

HD space (install andoperate)

80 MB

Monitor adaptor SVGA

Monitor display resolution 800 x 600

Monitor colours 256

Mouse Yes

Note:  ATI video cards installed with a ‘Catalyst driver’ set earlier than 4.9 will cause thePortal performance page to stop working if the screen-saver activates. The workaroundis to install the latest video drivers from the video card manufacturer.

Regional Settings Supported

Portal supports the following locales and there are no known limitations:

Albanian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English,Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian,Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese,Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Ukrainian.

The following table details known regional settings limitations.

Locales Known Limitations

Arabic The calendar does not display the day of the week correctly

Chinese The date format is not consistent in event browser, the calendar doesnot display the day of the week correctly, and the alarms page is largerthan 800 x 600 resolution

Hindi The alarms page is larger than 800 x 600 resolution

Swedish Commas are displayed instead of decimal points when entering theTR/RX spacing and TX/RX frequency. Portal will accept commas whenthe user enters TX/RX frequency, however it will not accept commas for

the TX/RX spacing. The workaround is to use decimal points.

Thai Alarms page is larger than 800 x 600 resolution

Turkish Some event log entries in the event browser and link history pages maynot be displayed

Closed Field Issues

The following table lists field issues that have been fixed since the 4.1.16 release.

TroubleTicket #

Issue Description

9465 ODU 300 EP : Latch PA current alarm when ODU is muted, alarm is now

still monitored.8023 ODU 500: 38 GHz Synthesizer core power level has been adjusted to a

value that give stable operation at high temperatures.

6492 RAC 4X : XPIC was not recovering after some maintenance activities ,now fixed.

5376 DAC E3/DS3 MUX : Intermittent sync losses can be experienced whenused with DAC 155oM. This irregularity has been resolved.

4513 IDU SP 16x/4x : If the reset button is pressed for longer than 10seconds, it leaves the radio terminal in a condition where it is expecting aconfiguration change, a timeout set so that if no change is made the IDUreverts to its original condition.

4795 IDU 300ES / DAC-ES : Performance Data not being logged correctly forthese modules, problem now resolved.

5449 DHCP function will now assign the Terminals IP address as desired.

3361 DAC ES & IDU 300 ES : A lower throughput rate was observed if an AAtest pattern was fed through these radios. Although not a fault , the fullthroughput is now observed if this test pattern is used.

3350 IDU 300 ES : Unable to stop flow control while switch ports are in auto-negotiation, problem now resolved.

2851 ODU 300 SP 1+1 : Reports fwd power of -50dB when muted, nowreports -100 dB as standard.

1037 RSSI Fluctuations observed when ATPC is enabled at low power levels, this problem has been resolved.

826 INUe: Heavy Ethernet Port NMS traffic could cause soft resets, thisproblem has been resolved.

618  A short burst of AIS generated when a node in a Ring Network wrapsaffected some 3

rd party equipment, this undesirable feature no longer

exists.

1551 NPC : NPC alarms have a warning severity level. The severity of the -48V alarm has been changed from warning to major.

Closed Significant Issues

The following table lists significant issues that were discovered duringdevelopment/testing since the version 4.1.16 release. These issues have been fixed bythis release.

Software Type Issue Description

Embedded IDU 300 ES : Throughput can drop when connected to DAC GE/IDU300 GE. The IDU ES had a problem at 40E1 capacity that has nowbeen resolved.

Embedded IDU 300 GE 20x & DAC GE : 64b frame throughput is low (~8%), withpreamble not removed. When both ends of a data link include thisversion of software (or later), then they will remove preamble fromEthernet packets, improving throughput particularly with small frames

Embedded IDU 300 GE 20x : Duplicate Ethernet packets can be Rx'd onprotection switch .An automatic Tx protection switch can result in~50ms of duplicated received Ethernet packets as the active Ethernetswitch moves from one IDU to the other.

EmbeddedNo Circuits shown for IDU ES and IDU GE in the As-built report

Configured circuits are now shown in the As-built report

Embedded RAC 4X : ATPC not operating for 2xSTM-1/128QAM and93E1/256QAM

ATPC is now operational for these capacities.

Embedded RAC 4X : Power settings are not automatically refreshed whencapacity is changed.

Portal now shows the correct maximum power after capacities havebeen changed.

Embedded ODU 300 HP : Add support for v2 Calibration files

The ODU 300 HP now supports v2 calibration files, as well as theoriginal v1 calibration files.

Embedded RAC 3X ,106E1 ports 101-106.Use of radio ports 101-106 has been disabled in an INU – they are ofno practical use as the TDM backplane is limited to 100 circuits

Embedded ODU 300 EP & ODU 300 HP : Latch PA current alarm when ODU ismuted. The PA current alarm could not be evaluated when the ODU is muted. Now the alarm is latched to the state it was in prior to muting. Thislatched value is stored in non-volatile memory in the ODU.

Important Notes

1. Traffic may be affected when upgrading software between two specific versionsof software. Contact a Harris Stratex Networks Technical Help Desk for details, contact details are on page ii of these release notes.

2. When upgrading software ensure the remote end of a link is upgraded before thelocal end. This is particularly important where the RAC 40 is involved.

3. Portal Help integration requires Stratex Help revision 014 or higher. Stratex Helpis a standalone help program that is installed separately to Portal, it can be foundon the Eclipse Setup installation CD.

4. A license upgrade requires a power cycle if the backplane type changes.

5. A power cycle or a RAC reinsertion is required if a capacity change exceeds thelicense capacity size.

6. To reduce the traffic outage time during a software load of an IDU 100 1+1protected radio the following steps should be observed:

a. Lock all units to TX/RX on the Primary and load only to the high bandSecondary IDU/ODU pair

b. Keeping all units TX/RX locked on the Primary, load only to the lowband Secondary IDU/ODU pair

c. Switch all units to TX/RX on the Secondary and lock them there

d. Keeping all units TX/RX locked on the Secondary, load only to the highband Primary IDU/ODU pair

e. Keeping all units TX/RX locked on the Secondary, load only to the lowband Primary IDU/ODU pair

f. Switch all units back to TX/RX auto

7. Care should be taken not to run OSPF and Static routing within the same internalOSPF routing domain.

8. If Portal loses communication with an IDU 300 SP radio when changing the IPaddress, restart Portal to restore communication.

9. Disable any PC firewalls before performing a software download.

Harris Stratex Networks encourages its customers to report problems so we can resolvethem as quickly as possible.

If you encounter a technical issue, please contact us using the information on page 2 ofthese Release Notes.
