"LET THE DREAMERS WAKE THE NATION! " ....

Given the situations of today, and the unprecedented economic fall from grace it is painfullyobvious the old ways of doing things have failed. It is apparent that we need new and creative ways to live and work in this world.

With great turmoil also comes great opportunity and it is exactly the " dreamers" who willrescue us from ourselves! If there was ever a time for hopeful thinking, it is now! Weshould stretch with our heart, soul and imagination and move forward toward a better day.

In the movie "Wall St", Gordon Geeko remarks " Greed Works", “Greed is God.” We have seen this to be the largest possible faux pas in modern history! As Annie Lenoxstates so well, “We have fallen from our shelves, to face the truth about ourselves.”Today’s challenges

give us the chance to move away from the quest for all things material and the "all aboutme" mentality and work towards what is really important in life ... helping others and beingof service. Consuming less and producing more, conserving our energy, moving towardsalternative ones, and renewing the planet can now begin in full earnest.

We in the fitness industry excel in being of service. We thrive on helping others reach theirgoals and become happier and healthier in the process. What better time to focus in onhow we can expand upon those concepts and really drive our planet toward a more nurturing and giving existence. As we move towards a more loving, thoughtful place wecan think about how we can help someone else. This can be the new order of the day, especially when that need has escalated so.

We all know how rewarding it is to help another, and if each of us worries about someoneelse, the planet will surely heal itself. Now, I am far from a "Pollyanna" as you all well know, however, if we are to move past these incredible obstacles, we are going to need hope; ...some "dreaming" if you will.

I would believe, the first thing we need to do is let go of our fears and allow ourselves to"dream" a little of what can be possible if we try. As Franklin Roosevelt so eloquently said;"We have nothing to fear, but fear itself." Hope can explain fear, and help open up the door for possibility and success.

To dream, is to imagine a new possibility. ECA has always been on the side of possibilityand reaching for new heights. We believe in "letting go and imagining all possibilities", inopening up to new ideas and concepts we allow for the possibility of reaching for the bestwithin ourselves. Now is the best possible time to embrace the impossible and truly "let the dreamers wake the nation!"

We are excited more now than ever to provide you with the necessary and the possible

to help you make a difference in this world. You can do this by fortifying your career possibilities and by offering ideas and concepts that provide the groundwork for each ofyou to dream and reach for previously unimagined possibilities.

So, "Let the Dreamers Wake the Nation" and let's make a better day!

Enjoy our Show! and most of all, Thank you for all your support.

As Mohattma Ghandi stated "Be the Change you wish to see in the world" Lets movetogether as a community and start changing the world!

It was to try to learn something new everyday. and so far I have been successful. - Mindy Mylrea

MindyECA: How did you become involved in fitness?

MM: I started teaching fitness when I was 17 years old. I starteda mother / daughter disco class. At 21, after attendingNeighborhood PlayHouse theater school in New York City and not having much luck on Broadway, I moved back toCalifornia to continue my studies and perform in theater inCalifornia. Needing money I approached a racquetball club with the idea of starting an aerobics class. They had never heardof aerobics - no one had really - they agreed to let me use anempty racquetball court and a boom box. My one class a dayturned into four classes that were packed, and an aerobic'steacher was born. I have been a group ex instructor for over 25 years. I was in the first AFAA certification that was createdand given - that's a long time ago. Looking back there have been so many changes and yet not so many. I have learned that current trends were probably here before and will be backagain; Kickboxing, dance based aerobics, bootcamp, to name afew. I laugh when I see something become mainstream and "all the rage" when I have been doing it for years. It's all goodand it always will be - that’s how I see it.

MINDY MYLREA INTERVIEWBy Susan Kasper

ECA: What prompted you to teach a disco class to momsand daughters at the age of 17?

MM: I saw a need. It was the disco craze era and I wasalways a self-starter. The program started as a lunchtimekids fit program for a local school. I was getting notorietyfrom my work there, parents were asking me what else Icould do and so I created the class. Looking back this is how I create much of what I do - I see a need that no oneelse is filling and I fill it.

ECA: At that time, was there a spiritual component to working out?

MM: Back when I started teaching aerobics there was a birth for many women. Aerobics gave a release to so manyand an empowerment that was never seen before. Womenwere experiencing strength and power in their bodies thatthey didn’t have before. The group dynamic added to theexcitement. For me, it was truly a movement of self-discovery. I learned that I could do anything if I worked hardenough. I learned that it was so rewarding to be focused onsomething and to dive into it with every part of your being.

ECA: How did you move from presenting to your own company - what were some of the obstacles that youencountered?

MM: My career has evolved all by itself. People say to me"Oh you have worked so hard to be where you are" I don'treally feel that I have worked a day in my life. It has all beenthis incredible journey of fun. If I look back there have beenfour major tipping points.

1. Winning the World Aerobic Championship,

2. When I created my first program and DVD for the fitnessindustry - the weighted jump rope .

3. Deciding to be an infomercial host.

4. Convincing my husband Bruce to quit his job and join mein business (This was the biggest.)

ECA: What made you know that you were gaining momen-tum in something bigger than you originally thought?

MM: This is a hard question because there were many times in my life where I saw a "tipping point" but that tipping point is fuzzy. This especially happens when you areworking on so many projects at once. I think Gliding is that“something bigger” when I saw the amount of gyms withGliding on their schedules. That was a big moment for me.

ECA: Who in your life has assisted you towards your goals?

MM: My husband, Bruce, by far has been instrumental inmy success. All the years I traveled to conventions for verylittle pay, paying my dues, trying to make a name formyself, he was at home taking care of our family. And thenwhen I got home after a long weekend away he would goright back to his 9 to 5 job to support our family because for years I didn't make enough for us to live off of. I havelearned from so many of my peers within the fitness industry. Jay Blahnik has helped me so much about - wellwith everything. I could name so many names but just knowthere are so many people in this industry that I admire.

ECA: And how did you convince your husband to join you — what was he doing before?

MM: My husband was the sales manager for a company inthe semi conductor robotics industry. His commute wasover 2 hours per day and he had been in the same industryfor over 20 years. I had been asking him for years to join me in the fitness industry but being the wonderful providerthat he was, he couldn't see it be financially feasible. I wasat a point in my career where I was traveling almost everyweekend, and shooting dvds on the east coast when I livedin the west coast. I had an idea of starting a dvd productioncompany. Gliding was also taking off in a big way and Ithought that Bruce could run that part of the business whichwould mean we would travel together. That was my dream. So after much deliberation and late night talks, he "glided"over. If any of you have met him you will agree with me thathe adds so much to this business. I know this is corny but Ican say all my dues paid off because working with Bruce isall I ever wanted. I am the happiest gal around.

ECA: Tell me a bit about your family. Did they help you create your children's fitness program?

MM: I have three boys Drew 22, Chris 21, Casey 16. I havebeen teaching Physical Education for their classes sinceDrew was in preschool. I created my first kids fitness dvdseries based on what worked and what didn't from thoseclasses. It’s amazing to see young adults; my oldest sonDrew’s age, whom I taught way back in elementary schoolapproach me and still remember all the games we playedand the lessons learned. To know that I made such animpact is the greatest gift. I am so proud of my kid's fitnessprogram and owe it all to all the kids who helped me createit over the years.

ECA: How did you come up with the games in the schools?

MM: I came up with my games in all sorts of ways. I read alot of books on the subject. I create most of my games fromscratch. I find an object; a balloon, a parachute, whateverand I start to play. I also give an object to my kids and Iobserve what they naturally do with that object. I havecome up with some of my best Gliding moves this way.

The doors of wisdom are never shut.- Benjamin Franklin

ECA: And are your sons involved within the fitness field too?

MM: Oh yes!!!! This is a family business. Our son Drewdirects and edits many of our projects. All three boys workin the booth at shows (when not in school). They assist inshoots, and even star in dvds along with me!

ECA: How did you start your involvement with your products? And what is that process like when working with them.

MM: Many times a magazine will ask me to write an articleon a topic and that starts the ball rolling and gets my creative juices flowing. Many companies ask me to developthe programming for a product they are launching - that hasled to so many great adventures. Many times it has beenthat someone saw me in a class I was teaching and onething led to another. That is how I was chosen for my firstinfomercial. I didn't advertise or audition. I was seen doingmy thing - So if I had to give any advice to anyone, it wouldbe to "do your thing and do it well" every time because younever know who is watching.

ECA: And for business -- In this economic situation we areexperiencing - how does your husband - whom I am assum-ing is the "business partner" in your life -- what advice canhe offer - about starting or continuing business.

MM: When Bruce quit his job three years ago we were verycareful not to count on only one income stream. We formu-lated a plan that would allow us to generate income fromthe many "ideas" we had. If one or more failed we stillwould be okay because we had other income channels. Welaunched the following our first year:

1. Savvier Fitness - We would be the fitness industry arm of Savvier (direct response company) providing Glidingproduct and programming, which I created and devel-oped, (and then BenderBall and Melt it off ) to the fitness industry.

2. FitFlix Productions – is our DVD production company. Wepartnered with a local production house, Digital MediaFactory, to offer our fitness dvd services to both the proand consumer markets.

3. FitFest – is our fitness convention and trade show.

4. Mindy Mylrea - the brand. Bruce would be my agent forinfomercials, presenting, and our DVD projects. Well all ofthem worked and now we are working 24 / 7!

ECA: What are some of the lessons that you learned thatwould help others through the process of developing theirown business?

MM:

1. Be consistent. Do what you do and do it well every timeand then do it better next time you do it.

2. No one ever owes you anything. Be grateful for every-thing that happens your way and try to deliver 1000%more then expected

3. If you have an idea ACT on it. Don't wait for someoneelse to come out with your goods. You are worthy anddeserving to create and reap the rewards.

4. Surround yourself with awesome people. Find peoplewho are equally or surpass you in smarts, sense ofhumor, wisdom, talent. And find people who want you toreach every potential you have.

5. Be unique and authentic. Discover in yourself what makesyou stand out and then let that part of you flourish. Mystandout quality is that I am always UP and that I have anover abundance of energy. Having these two qualitiesallows me to attract equally up and energetic people, which allows me to get a whole lot done.

6. I would also offer the advice to keep expenses down. Noone really needs that new car or that new house. Havingmore stuff means having to take care of more stuff. Bruceand I live in the same house we bought 23 years ago. Weonly own one old car.

And lastly if you do go into business with your life partner,go in as if your relationship were a tree. Make sure that theroots of the relationship are strong and deeply imbedded.Make sure that your branches easily bend and sway onwindy days and care for your tree so that blossoms willalways bloom.

I just love Deepok Chopra. I readmostly professional How to bookswhich are actually pretty boring. Icannot read fiction as I get tooinvolved with the characters and Ican't get my work done. I am aworkaholic and I don't want anythingto clutter my mind that isn't useful. It may sound weird!!!

FOR ME LATELY?By PETRA KOLBER

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE

One of the greatest challenges I have had, both as a presenter

and as an instructor, is continuallydeveloping new material that is

fresh and inspiring. As presenters and group fitness instructors

we deal with the challenge of havingthat one student who is thinking,

“What Have You Done For Me Lately?”

Several years ago I was at a crossroads with my step

presentations. I was torn between what I “THOUGHT”

participants were looking for versus what I knew in my

heart felt right to me. This is not an article about right

or wrong, it’s about how we keep our students coming

back week after week and hopefully year after year to

our classes. How can we keep it fresh and interesting

while maintaining our own integrity and staying true to

our personal teaching style and methodology?

Through this last election we saw that the candidate

that remained focused on one message and did not

jump around trying to please everyone is now our

President. I am not saying that we cannot mix things

up, but maybe it is time to flip the switch and think less

about what we do in the classroom and more about

how we do it. Perhaps instead of looking at changing

up the choreography as the way to pack the room, we

look at applying consistency of action and intention to

accomplish the same goal.

With the economy losing more than our waistline ever

will, clubs will be hesitant to purchase new equipment.

I, for one, am fine with that prospect. Equipment is a

terrific tool to help instructors mix up class formats and

also can be a great way to challenge the member.

However, there is a thin line between using a piece of

equipment to enhance a workout versus using it as a

prop to replace top of the line cueing and instruction.

So what about the non-equipment classes? How do

we keep those sessions fresh and exciting

to the members? After all, a grapevine is a

grapevine. I used to say that we are as

only as good as our last class. While there

may be some truth to that,

I also know that it is impossible to knock

it out of the ballpark EVERY time and

thinking that way puts incredible and

unrealistic expectations upon us.

A class is an event, similar to going out for dinner with friends.

The steps and exercises we choose are the ingredients for the

meal to come. Some may be sweet (easy to do) and some may

be salty (challenging but still appealing). Once we have chosen

our main ingredients we then sprinkle in the spices and herbs to

add the flavor and mystique to the meal. The sprinkling of spices

can be compared to your words and intentions you bring to the

class. Depending on what spices you add the meal can be one

that will be savored for years to come or one that tasted slightly

bitter and makes the customer (member) think twice before

coming back to that particular restaurant. The one thing I think

we can agree upon is that while the taste of the food is important,

the element that often brings us back to one restaurant versus

another has a lot to do with the energy and “vibe”.

So here is some food for thought. Perhaps the question we

should ask ourselves is not what have we done for our students

lately but how did we do it? Maybe we are spending too much

time before class prepping the ingredients and not enough time

making sure that we serve them up with a smile and a kind word.

What if in place of adding that extra spin we added extra words

of encouragement. Instead of learning the latest and greatest

moves on a new piece of equipment we learn the names of our

students who come year after year to work out with us?

It does not matter how much we change and mix up our classes

week after week. If the front row members are the only ones

that can do it what message are we truly sharing? Is it about

horeography or is it about commitment to wanting the best for

our students? Is it about the latest moves or is it about the

motivation? Is it about being the hardest class on the schedule

or is it being the class with the biggest heart?

As instructors, we have the ability to create magic. However, the

magic is not found in the choreography. The magic lies in our

ability to allow the worries and stresses that our students bring

into the classroom to vanish for 60 minutes. For that next hour

when the moves, the motivation and the methodology all come

together with great intention – it is perfection.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONETips For Keeping Your Classes

Growing in a Shrinking Economy

By Petra Kolber

Learn the names of your students. If like me, you have a difficult time with this, make a cheat sheet. Most students stand in the same spot for years. Make a diagram of the room and put the name of the student in the spot they stand in. You can also add one characteristic to remind you of their name or find out one thing about them that is NOT relatedto working out. For example, how many kids do hey have etc.

Change your warm up and cool down every month. These are often the last areas we pay attention to inour workouts. First and last impressions are lastingimpressions. Keep the warm up uncomplicated togive you time to connect with your students. Thecool down can be as simple as changing the song.

When using small equipment in class, try to do anoption without the equipment first, especially when it comes to a lower body exercise. Take the time toteach the technique first. This way you can be assuredthat your toy for the day is enhancing your workoutversus just being a distraction.

If using equipment always know WHY you are addingit to a particular exercise. “FAB “ it for your students –show them the features and tell them the benefits.

Mix up your music. Music is one of the simplest wayswe can add energy to the room and change up ourclass. Try to experiment with different styles and erasof music. By using the Internet, there are great waysto try before you buy. Share music ideas with otherinstructors and also reach out to our students to seewhat they like.

Teach to your students and not at them.

Lastly, as I heard Lynne Brick tell me over 15 yearsago, never forget that no one is paying to see yourbad day. More likely than not, they are trying to forget theirs.

Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.- Dale Carnegie

DON’T FOCUS ON A

‘Better You’ in 2009 by Margaret Moore, CEO and founder of Wellcoaches Corp., the leader in wellness coach trainingand certification. Ms. Moore is co-founder of the McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School Coaching & Positive Psychology Initiative and annual Coaching Psychology Conference.

Here are some suggestions for reaching your “thriving” goals for 2009.

1. Visualize doing one or more “thriving” activities.

2. Write yourself a letter dated one year from now describinghow you succeeded in the past year. Don’t forget where youput it so that you can look at it regularly.

3. Make relationships one of your thriving activities. Studiesshow that strong relationships help us thrive and make usless likely to suffer poor health, depression, and prematuredeath.

4. Leave behind false notions of quick fixes for health and hap-piness. Instead aim to outgrow your current way of life. Gofor lasting change, which brings new learning, new perspec-tives, and new confidence.

5. Rather than “I resolve,” say “I want” to do somethingbecause it brings meaning to my life.

6. Develop reasonable, modest, and appealing goals and makea realistic plan for achieving them. Give yourself plenty oftime to experiment, allowing for lots of trial and correction.

7. Pace yourself, track your progress, hold yourself account-able, and develop strategies for any challenges that arise.Recruit people who care about you to give you support.

8. Keep a positive attitude. It may not cure a disease, but think-ing positively can help you deal with life’s ups and downs, make the most of your situation, find things to be gratefulfor, and enjoy life more fully.

9. Handle stress well. Research shows that stress can wreakhavoc not only on your efforts to reach your goals, but it willcompromise your energy and immune system.

10. Celebrate and reward yourself along the way for your effortsand successes.

11. Work with a Wellcoaches_certified wellness coach to achieveyour goals to increase the likelihood of success.

12. One year from now, pull out your letter and appreciate yourprogress in the past year, whatever it looks like!

ABOUT WELLCOACHES CORPORATION www.wellcoaches.com

“Don’t focus on a ‘better you’ in 2009 by making New Year’s resolutions.”Instead take inventory of the 5_ 10 thingsthat make you thrive, and work steadilyover the entire year ahead to incorporatemore of them into your everyday life.“You’ll enjoy life more, feel more energetic and healthy, and the goodhabits you want to adopt will feel more within reach.”

“Abandon the words `would, could, and should,’” and develop a deeper connection to your big pictureof lifelong good health and well_being. Say to yourself: “Positive change will be easier if I’m thriving.” First identify the big things that make yourlife worth living. You may now be actively gettingthese things done often, infrequently, or not at all.Making a commitment to get these things done regularly to make you happier is a gift only you can give yourself.

The dictionary defines well_being or wellness as optimal physical and mental health, yet it’s up to youto figure out what makes you well and flourish. It feelsgreat to become the boss of your own well-being, anddo it in your own style.

My own list of what makes me thrive includes cookingnew dishes with family and friends, donating moneyand time to people in need, listening to jazz, and exercising vigorously to balance the stress that comeswith being an entrepreneur. When I’m in a thrivingmode, I make healthy choices most of the time. When I feel down, I tend to slip up.

The Slow Food movement was founded in 1989 by Carlo Petriniin Italy, though it began in 1986 to resist the opening of aMcDonalds near the Spanish steps in Rome. Since then it hasflourished to 122 countries around the globe. To date, the slowfood organization spawned by that initial movement has expand-ed to over 83,000 members worldwide with 16,000 members inthe U.S.A. The movement has a strong belief that food is a com-mon language and a universal right. It’s followers continue with adeep appreciation for slowing down and savoring the traditions oftheir table and taste buds.

I can appreciate that concept, however when your hungry do youreally eat slow? All totaled, 800 chapters exist with 350 in Italycomposed of 35,000 members and 450 other regional chaptersaround the world. Its members include culinary professionals, food enthusiasts, farmers, food producers, educators and stu-dents. In America, Slow Food USA envisions a world in which allpeople can eat delicious food that is good for them, good for thepeople who grow it, and good for the planet. The overall organiza-tional structure is decentralized, and each chapter has a leaderwho is responsible for promoting local farmers and local flavorsthrough the region with events such as taste workshops, winetasting and promoting the farmers markets. Offices have beenopened in Switzerland (1995), Germany (1998), New York City(2000), France (2003), Japan (2005), and most recently in theUnited Kingdom. The head offices are located near the famouscity of Turin in northern Italy, and numerous publications are avail-able in several languages. In the USA, “The Snail” is the quarter-ly of choice, while Slow Food puts out literature in several otherEuropean nations. It is difficult to gauge the extent of the successof the Slow Food movement considering that the organizationitself is still very young. The current grassroots nature of SlowFood is such that few people in Europe and especially the UnitedStates are aware of it.

Current statistics show that Europe and Germany is a much big-ger consumer of organics than the USA. Slow Food has certainlycontributed to the growing awareness of health concerns inEurope, but on society as a whole Slow Food has had little effect. An example of this is the fact that tourists visit Slow Food restau-rants more than locals, but Slow Food and its sister movementsare still young. In an effort to spread the ideals of anti-fast food,Slow Food has targeted the youth of the nations in primary andsecondary schools. Volunteers help build structural frameworksfor school gardens and put on workshops to introduce the newgeneration to the art of farming. With all that being said, SlowFood USA still manages quite nicely to obtain funding and corpo-rate support. Numerous organizations have substantially support-ed broad cultural shifts by increasing consumer awareness aboutfood issues. This type of corporate thinking has helped provide

Slow Food Nation with the crucial capital necessary to underwritehuge events. Slow Food Nation has also received critical supportfrom forward-thinking foundations including general start-up capi-tal used to fund the initial operating costs and program-specificfunding in 2008. Philanthropists have also been crucial in support-ing Slow Food Nation’s development over the past few years byproviding support for the infrastructure development necessary. The Slow Food Nation event is big business with a budget over $2million not including resources donated by media partners andindividuals across the country who have generously given theirtime, know how and passion to make Slow Food Nation a reality.A recent event provided American farmers an opportunity to con-nect and give consumers the opportunity to gain a deeper under-standing of the role we all play in preserving America’s landscapeand food traditions. In addition, most palates enjoy authentic fla-vors and support the diversity of American food. Remember themovement’s initial philosophy is to be educational, and Slow Foodhas created some specific objectives to stay on course including:

• Preserving and promoting local and traditional food products forculinary traditions.

• Encourage ethical buying in local marketplaces.

• Organizing celebrations of local cuisine within various global regions.

• Promoting "taste education” by educating consumers about therisks of fast food.

• Educating citizens about the drawbacks of factory farms anddeveloping various political programs to preserve family farms.

• Lobbying for the inclusion of organic farming, and lobbyingagainst government funding of genetic engineering.

• Lobbying against the use of pesticides, and teaching gardeningskills to students and prisoners.

In the end, nothing goes without criticism. Some feel that the Slow Food movement initially succeeded because it mixedhedonism with a leftist political agenda. Pretty deep huh? Perhapsthere is some truth there based on their strong anti-technologyand anti-globalization views.

Other powerful organizations involved in the protection of traditional plants and farm animals tend to dislike the Slow Foodmovement's politics and claim that their main goal has shifted toself-promotion. In truth, both arguments might be right, and in theend it’s something to think about. The true cost of fuel for foodtransported to be around the world is not usually factored into theprice of goods. Instead it’s paid for indirectly through our personal taxes. That’s worth your “food for thought”! Fast food anyone?

Not life, but good life, is to be chiefly valued. - Socrates

COAL PLANT SPILL WORSE THAN EXXON VALDEZ

Burning coal is a leading source of global warming pollution. As the recentenvironmental disaster at the TVA Kingston Fossil Plant in Tennessee proves, coal plants represent a major danger to the environment in more ways thanone. On December 22, 1.1 billion gallons of coal fly ash slurry spilled at theKingston Fossil Plant. Fly ash is a byproduct of coal combustion. The slurry (amixture of the ash and water) traveled downhill, covering the surroundingland with up to six feet of sludge, damaging homes and flowing into nearbywaterways. It was the largest coal slurry spill in U.S. history, and the amountreleased was more than 50 times larger than the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.

Yet the story has not received the level of press coverage it deserves. Thefirst independent test results showed significantly elevated levels of toxicmetals in samples of slurry and river water, which can cause cancer and liverdamage, among other health issues. The devastating environmental impactof the spill has yet to be fully determined. Hopefully the spill will ignite thedebate over the environmental safety of coal power plants.

NATIONAL TEACH-IN ON GLOBAL WARMING

On February 5th, 2009, the National Teach-In on Global Warming broughttogether over a million Americans in a solutions-driven dialogue on globalwarming, helping to focus the nation during the first 100 days of the Obamaadministration. The National Teach-In enlisted thousands of schools, faithgroups, civic organizations and businesses. Learn more atNationalTeachIn.org

PUT YOUR HOME ON AN ENERGY DIET

Energy efficiency is the fastest way to decrease global warming pollution. Here are some tips to help reduce your household's energy use, and yourhigh energy bills:

• Unplug appliances and electronics when not in use, as they consume energy even in "standby" mode.

• Set your thermostat to 68 degrees or less during the day, and 55 degrees at bedtime.

• Replace your light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs. A CFL costs a little more but lasts 10 times as long and will lower your energy bills by more than $60 during its life.

• Cut heating expenses by weather-stripping to seal drafts around windowsand doors. Make sure your home has adequate insulation, especially in the attic.

• Use appliances that are certified as Energy Star to make your home energy efficient.

STUDENT INNOVATION

The recently launched New York Times Education Life section profiled stu-dents with innovative solutions to environmental problems. Included are sto-ries on a teenager who built a prototype ultra-compact electric motorcycle;and a young inventor harvesting the energy on a hybrid car. These are greatexamples of personal creativity and initiative.

In 2009, I will spend more time giving to charities and helping the less fortunate. I want to remove toxic, negative people from my life and participate in only positive interactions. I will empower more people through yoga and fitness and I want to make YogaFit a certified green company.

ECA NEWS FOR FITNESS PROFESSIONALSQUARTERLY PUBLICATION

My resolution in fitness is that, every time I create a new program for fitness professionals, I will create also a program forconsumers…those who need our message more. I see us coming up w/latest and greatest programming and equipment, but we are helping the fit get fitter. We have such talent here and we need to direct that talent equally to the millions of usthat don’t work out. Just like only 20% of Americans have passports, only a small amount of us actually works out.Likewise, I think we need to keep targeting the consumers who need us most! - Lawrence Biscontini
