2.0 HERRING ISLAND. 2.1 Site analysis and Conceptacle: identify clearly with images what are the aspects of the site that interested you and the opportunities that you identified. Show and make sense of your Conceptacle as first approach to the brief and site response.2.2 Concept and Sketch design: Sketches/Diagrams/Models of design development in reponse to the site and the brief2.3 Design Development: Plans, sections, elevations, axonometric and /or models2.4 Final Design drawings: Plans, sections, elevations, axonometric 2.5 Final Design Model: Include a photomontage
Integrate images with approx. 100 words describing the work
3.0 Reflection. This section should be a critical reflection of your overall design process and experience. What have you learnt, what aspect of the studio did you find challenging? How can you improve your design and where do you think things went wrong or well?

3.0 Reflection Concept: Repetitive distortion
In the first project “point line & plane“,the precedent I chose is one sculpture. Because this sculpture inspired me generated the idea of repetitive. In the second project “mass“, temple of Hatshepcut was chosen as the precedent. It is integraded with the ancient culture and the natural background. Because of these, the idea of natural cave was generated. In the third project”Frame and infill”, I was inspired from the tower of canton which is located in Guangzhou. Because its surface is integrated with distorted cable frame and this frame does not have infill. And I think its idea of distortion is close to my concept of “frame and infill“. For preparing the final project, the site analysis helped me explore potential issues ocurred in site and choose the location for the secrete space. My conceptacle consists of three previous projects’ ideas ------ repetitive, organic and distorted, and then my final concept was created, that is repetitive distortion. From the lecture, I learnt the methods of composition. I applied strategies of pun and moire in my conceptacle and final model. Pun is the way of damaging or subtracting the original shape. It helped me create a unique surface of the final model randomly. Moire is overlapping two or several elements. It is useful for me to produce a surprising and unique pattern in my conceptacle and final model. It is challenging for me to create the concept for each project in studio. How I overcome this stuck? I understood my previous objects and tried to combine their main ideas together. So that my final concept based on most of my previous intention. In order to improve my design, I should pay more attention on thinking my concept and layout for the project. Where I can learn from? After every presentation in studio, I would take photos of other students’ slides. It motivated me learn from others fistly, and inspired me how to layout logically and beautifully. I think the distorted triangles displayed well in my final model. Because I used the strategy of moire. It is efficient and effective for me to create the unique and surprising pattern.
