What is the Early Development Index?

Teacher-completed checklist on children’s development measured in the spring of kindergarten

Data are aggregated to a group level (neighborhood, city, etc.) to provide a population based measure of children’s development

EDI is not reported at the child level or class level and is not used as a diagnostic tool for individual children

Orange County is one of more than 50 communities around the country leading this effort.

• District and School Reports only shared with district and are not a public document.
