VTEC MENA 2014

The need for a workforce with the appropriate and relevant skills and knowledge in the energy sector cannot be over-emphasized. In order for the energy industry to overcome various strategic challenges, we must seek innovative and sustainable methods for ensuring employee development and empowerment. Developing human potential, therefore, lies at the core of ADMA-OPCO’s corporate ethos under the umbrella of ADNOC.

We adamantly believe that building capacity, knowledge, and skills to improve systems of leadership and performance evaluation are prerequisites for taking the lead in developing a knowledge-based economy. And as UAE transitions to this kind of information economy, we will continue in ADMA-OPCO to be there taking a leading role in unlocking the potential of UAE’s human assets with the ultimate goal of transforming from a company of which our country is proud to a company of which the world is proud.

Therefore, we took pride in hosting Getenergy’s VTEC MENA 2014 recently. We are pretty sure that this leading event that brought together a large number of prestigious leaders from government, industry and education sectors, could generate way forwards in face of the challenges besetting the training of UAE nationals within the Oil & Gas industry.

ADMA-OPCO SIGNSMASSIVE AED 13 BILLION Nasr & Umm Shaif Deals at ADIPEC

During the industry-setting event, ADMA-OPCO signed three major deals worth AED 11.02 billion (around US$ 3.5 billion) to boost output from the Nasr Oilfield. The deal spans three contract packages which were handed to NPCC, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Technip.

NPCC also won a fourth contract for EPC work to boost gas supply from the offshore Umm Shaif Super Complex for AED 1.08 b (approximately $494 m).

“These key projects come under the guidance of Abu Dhabi Government and the support of the SPC and the Shareholders,” said CEO

Package 1 for EPC work on seven wellhead towers at the field is valued at $792 million; the second package – also for EPC work, worth $1.938 billion was given to HHI. Technip was given the third contract worth $206 million to provide project management and consulting (PMC) services for the development.

The deals were signed by ADMA-OPCO CEO, Aqeel A. Madhi, CEO, NPCC; J. D. Kim, Senior Executive Vice President & COO, HHI, and Vaseem Khan, Managing Director of Technip, Abu Dhabi and President for Middle East, in presence of Ali Ghanim Bin Hamoodah, Senior Vice President (Projects-Engineering)

CEO said ADMA-OPCO has also taken advantage of these major projects to develop and train young UAE nationals in engineering and project management as part of the EPC agreement.

“As part of our commitment to building the future of Abu Dhabi and UAE nationals we are investing in the advancement of the future oil and gas leadership by implementing a comprehensive, well-structured career development programme for young UAE nationals as part of the EPC contracts for the new oil fields where the selected candidates will be assigned to the EPC contactors’ premises and participate within the projects’ task force.”

The Nasr field is being developed by ADMA-OPCO in two phases. The EPC Contract for Phase-I was awarded in July 2011; two wellhead towers and a manifold tower constructed under this contract are in the final stages of completion.

The contracts signed are for Phase II or the “Full Field Development” stage of the project.

Through the project named “Additional Gas Supply to Onshore & Flexibility Assurance at USSC”, ADNOC intends to transfer additional gas from Umm Shaif Oilfield to Habshan through Das Island.

This new project is undertaken on a fast-track basis to fully utilise the available gas streams in order to increase onshore gas supply. The project is executed in two parts i.e. the offshore part by ADMA-OPCO and the remaining part by other OPCOs.

Ali Rashid Al-Jarwan, stressing that the entire project is in line with ADNOC’s plans to ensure sustained oil production, while maintaining highest HSE standards.
