    Introduction

This Feasibility Test will examine the cost difference, strength, absorbency, and how many

sheets come in each roll of 4 brands of paper towels. The paper towel brands we will be testing

are Brawny, Viva, Mardi Gras, and Kirkland. After this test you will be able to distinguish which

brand of paper towels is the best buy.

We can conclude from the data presented in the four previous tests, that Viva is the best brand

of paper towel, due to ranking second in Cost Per Roll at $2.29, while ranking first in the

categories of Sheets Per Roll, Absorbency, and Durability. The second best brand to select

is the Kirkland brand which tallied a final score of 12 due to it having the lowest price and

displaying excellent strength during durability testing. Brawny fell one point behind Kirkland

with a score of 11, not for being any less of a quality product, but for being far more

expensive. Mardi Gras performed very poorly on every test, coming third in Cost Per Roll,

and finishing last in every test we performed. The quality of Mardi Gras is what you paid for

it, finishing with a score of 6.

  • Introduction v

    Introduction

Many Americans and people of other nationalities still do not know about Korea. They

only know North Korea and think of it as a dangerous country. However, some people are

interested in Korea. I will write a manual to teach those who are interested in Korean culture,

especially UNT Korean Culture Exchange members, how to make traditional Korean holiday

    foods.

Most Korean food recipes are not written in English, so people who want to make Korean

food have a difficult time. In addition, most Americans are not familiar with the ingredients.

They can find similar ingredients in regular grocery stores, but I suggest that they go to a local

Asian market and try Asian products. In addition, I heard KCE has many activities to introduce

Korean culture. Some Koreans may bring Korean food to the meetings, and I think making

Korean food is also a good activity for meetings.

I will talk about common ingredients that readers can find, specifically at Hmart. By

elaborating on ingredients and taking pictures, Ill make it easier for them to recognize each step.

In addition, they will be learning a little Korean, too. Last time at a KCE meeting, I heard they

compared and contrasted Koreas Thanksgiving Day with American Thanksgiving Day. I think

making food and eating will be more useful than just listening to a PowerPoint presentation. By

making Korean food, they can have a better understanding of Korean culture. In chapter 1, KCE

members can learn about Korean Thanksgiving day and foods. In chapter 2, I will write a manual

about making two Korean foods. If they follow each step, they can make Korean food easily. I

hope this manual is helpful for KCE members.

In Chapter 1, you can learn about Korean Thanksgiving day and traditional foods.

  • Chapter 1 3

Chapter 1: Korean Thanksgiving day (Chuseok:) Chuseok, Korean Thanksgiving day, is one of the biggest national holidays in Korea. The date of

Chuseok is based on the lunar calendar. Koreans go back to their hometown to celebrate together

and eat delicious foods and give thanks to their ancestors.

    Chuseok Ceremony Ancestor-memorial service

    Figure 1. Foods for ancestors

Koreans perform ancestor-memorial service (Charye: ) in the wee hours on Chuseok.

People usually wear traditional Korean clothes (Han-bok: ) and bow for ancestors, while

filling the table with a lot of foods. The family gives thanks to their ancestors during the

    ancestor-memorial service (Wikipedia).

How to make GAL-BI-JIM In the meat section, you can find this type of beef. Cut Short Ribs/Stew (). I recommend using this beef.

    Figure 6. Beef for GAL-BI-JIM

    1) First, put beef in cold water to get rid of blood for 30minutes to 1 hour. If you see blood

in the bottom of bowl, change the water.

Originally, you have to boil beef in a large

pot for 5-10 minutes. Take out the ribs

from the boiling water and wash them with

cold water to remove any unnecessary fat

or floating bubbles. Throw away the

boiling water and clean the pot.

But for this project, I skipped this step.
