Course Announcement This interactive e-learning course is for dynamic and result oriented individuals working as senior managers and supervisors in the water sector who feel the need to grow in the career and personal development. These are individuals with ambitions and the desire to make a last- ing difference in their lives and organisations. The course content is based on «A Challenging Experience in Organization Development. A Guidebook» published by Jerusalem Water Undertaking and GTZ Water Supply Development Project. The course is offered by GIZ - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, Germany in close cooperation with the ARAB COUNTRIES WATER UTILITIES ASSOCIATION (ACWUA) and the WAVEplus pro- gramme in Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. Objectives The course gives a step by step introduction to organisation development. It enhances the capacity of local deci- sion-makers to build a new organisation or revitalise and improve an existing one or parts of it. The course focuses on building blocks for a strong organisation – including people. However, it does not focus on the more psychological aspects of human resources development. Elements and characteristics of the e-learning course Web intensive course with mainly asynchronous work, online forum and online moderated expert chats. The flexi- bility allows individuals to select how long and when they intend to spend learning within the course period. Duration: Interactive learning totalling about 18 hours during 4 weeks starting June 01st, 2012 plus exam and another 6 hours for the development of an action plan. Target group Senior managers and supervisors in water and sanitation utilities, associations, water boards or other related or- ganisations and having responsibility for the organisation or a group of people. The course is open also for part- ner organisations of the GIZ WAVEplus programmes and GIZ programmes in the MENA region. Required means for joining the course Internet access (at least 5h/week), computer equipment, PDF Reader, up-to-date browser with Java enabled. Flu- ent knowledge of English language. The course is available in an offline version (Download) as well, but commu- nication in the forum with tutors and other participants is done via Internet. The final multiple choice test is available on-line only. Certificates Participants will receive a certificate in electronic form (PDF) from GIZ. Requirements: Active participation in forum and chats, passing the multiple-choice test, and the development of an individual Action Plan. Capacity development perspectives Participants with certificates will be eligible for the second advanced course with additional modules on func- tional expertise for the organization and best practices. This course will take some of the important topics of the first course and expand on them and go more in depth. Participants shall be part of a renowned network of professionals in the water sector and share experiences, and further expand opportunities for growth. They will join the Alumni network and Global Campus 21 of GIZ.
