Clues that you are a people pleaser:
A people pleaser is one of the nicest and most helpful people you will know. �ey never say no. they spend a great deal of time doing things for other people.
1. You pretend to agree with everyone
3. You apologise a lot4. You feel burdened and overwhelmed
6. You feel uncomfortable if someone is angry with you
9. You don't admit to being emotionally hurt10. You fear rejection from others or being a
disappointment
8. To go to great lengths to avoid con�ict
· Start saying no, even if it's for something small
· Give yourself time, if you worry you can't say no, start with a maybe or 'can I think about it'
· Avoid toxic people who will not accept your no
· Begin self-care and self-awareness, what are you saying yes to that you don't want to
· Stop repeatedly apologising, only apologise when you really mean it
· Make requests to have your needs met
· Identify goals of what you want to say yes to
How to change people pleasing behaviour:
· Start speaking up for yourself
Where does people pleasing come from?
· Give yourself internal validation
People pleasing o�en begins in childhood when the client is taught that they will receive love for good behaviour. It can be known as the good girl / boy syndrome. Love was o�en taken away for poor behaviour, so the child learnt to act a certain way in order to receive affection.
