~ We Gather to Worship ~

L: This is a new day the Lord is making! P: Let us worship God!

Gathering If Today You Hear My Voice Rawn Harbor (2006)

Solo: Come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord; Let us praise the Rock of our salvation; Let us come into God’s presence with thanksgiving; Let us joyfully sing psalms to Him.

Refrain: ALL

Solo: Come, let us now gather to worship; Let us come before the One who made us; For the Lord is our God; and we are the people He shepherds; The flock God guides.

Refrain: ALL

Opening Prayer

As we come together today, remind us God, that so often we believe it so much about us, that we perceive we are the only ones who search, we are the only ones who find, we

are the only ones who move, and often we dare to believe we are the only ones that possess any kind of control. We believe the journey is to go beyond where we are on earth to find something else, some place better, more Godly, up there or out there.

Show us again, this day, that it is You who walks among US; who searches for us; who finds us; who guides us; who calls us by our own unique name. Our call is not to be

somewhere else, but to be who we have been created to be HERE; NOW. For now is the cool of the day. When we hear Your voice, may we leave our hiding places,

to be found, welcomed, nourished, and equipped. Amen.

*Hymn The Summons John Bell (1987)

~ We Listen for the Voice of God ~

Hebrew Scriptures Genesis 3:1-9 The Message

3 The serpent was clever; more clever than any wild animal God had made. He spoke to the Woman: “Do I understand that God told you not to eat from any tree in the garden?” The Woman said to the serpent, “Not at all. We can eat from the trees in the garden. It’s only the tree in the middle of the garden that God said, ‘Don’t eat from it; Don’t even touch it or you’ll die, God said.’” The serpent told the Woman, “You won’t die. God knows that the moment you eat from that tree, you’ll see what’s really going on. You’ll be just like God, knowing everything, ranging all the way from good to evil.” When the Woman saw that the tree looked like good eating and realized what she would get out of it — she’d know everything! — she picked one and ate the fruit and then gave some to her husband, and he ate. Immediately the two of them really did see what was going on. They saw themselves naked! They sewed fig leaves together as makeshift clothes for themselves. When they heard the sound of God strolling in the garden in the cool part of the day, they hid in the trees of the garden. They hid from God. Then God called to them, “Where are you?”

L: This the Word of God for the People of God. P: Thanks be to God!

Response All Sing: Will you love the “you” you hide if I but call your name?

Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same? Will you use the faith you’ve found to reshape the world around?

With My Sight and Touch and Sound in you and you in Me.

Sermon Where are You? David W. Key, Sr.

~ We Respond ~

Response Out of Hiding Cook/Gretzinger (2014)

Come out of hiding, you’re safe here with Me; There’s no need to cover what I already see; You have your fears but I hold your peace; You’ve been in lock-down and I hold the key;

‘Cause I loved you before you knew there was Love; And I saw it all from below and above; And you are the one that I was thinking of when I took your place;

Now off with the shackles, freedom has come; I tore the veil so we could be one; There’s no reason to stand at a distance anymore; You’re not far from Grace.

I’ll be your Lighthouse when you’re lost at sea; I will illuminate who you can be; No need to be frightened by intimacy; Just throw off your fear and come running to Me.

You’re almost home now. Please don’t quit now. You’re almost home, to Me.

The Giving, *Presentation and Blessing of our Gifts

L: We give thanks for all that God has given us. P: May God bless all that we offer: our prayers, our presence, our gifts and our service.

~ We Gather as Community ~

*Passing of the Peace L: The Lord be with you! P: And also with you! Greet one another with signs of peace.

*Song of Fellowship God is Still Speaking Marty Haugen (2009)

~ We Sing the Theme ~

The Cool of the Day Jean Ritchie (1971)

My Lord, He said unto me; Do you like My garden so fair? You may live in this garden if you keep the grasses green; And I'll return in the cool of the day.

Refrain: Now is the cool of the day; Now is the cool of the day; The earth is a garden, the garden of our Lord; And God walks in the cool of the day.

Then my Lord, He said unto me; Do you like my pastures so green? You may live in this garden if you feed my sheep; And I'll return in the cool of the day. Refrain

Then my Lord, he said unto me; Do you like my garden so free? You may live in this garden if you'll keep all people free; And I'll return in the cool of the day. Refrain

~ We Gather in Prayer ~

~ Silent Prayer ~ Sharing Requests ~ ~ Pastoral Prayer ~ Lord’s Prayer ~

Response Here I Am, Lord Dan Schutte (1981)

Solo: I, the Lord of wind and flame; I will tend the poor and lame; I will set a feast for them; My hand will save;

Finest bread I will provide; Till all hearts are satisfied; I will give new life to them; Whom shall I send? Refrain ALL

SERVICE OF THE TABLE

All are welcome at the LOCC table. We are all guests of Christ our Host. As a blended community, we acknowledge & celebrate the wide symbolic range of this Table of Grace,

and desire that these elements uniquely become the presence of God for each person.

Beginning from the rear of the room, forming one line, all are invited to come and receive a blessing from one of the Pastors, and then approach the table.

Please take a wafer and dip it into a Chalice. (A practice known as intinction.)

The chalice with the ribbon contains wine; the one without contains grape juice.

Around one Table, all are beloved members of one, diverse, Community of Faith.

Our Father, who art in heaven; Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the Kingdom, And the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
