Term 1 Week 8 - Edition 4 Friday 20 March 2020

Principal’s Report

Moving into the last few weeks of school, it is clear how fast our

time flies!

While some pretty major events are unfolding in our world, our

school is working overtime to create the routine, support and

knowledge that our students benefit from in such times. We

have been and will continue to be, teaching and reminding

students about best practices for keeping safe and hygienic.

We have been having ongoing conversations with our classes

around facts and non-facts and answering students’ questions

to help them gain perspectives and feel more settled.

We would ask in these unique times, that parents and carers

continue to keep us informed about the wellbeing of their

children. People respond in a variety of ways to such pressures

and we can better support students if we have greater

understanding of their wellbeing.

As we all know, the situation is changing from day to day.

Public Schools are staying open at this stage and so it is

business as usual for us. We are in the process of organising

‘home packs’ of work which will be made available to families

on Monday 23rd March. These packs will include the weekly

schedule for students at home, an outline of expectations,

copies of necessary work, and passwords for online programs.

These can be picked up at the front office. Parents and

students will be able to connect with and receive feedback

through the ‘class dojo’ program currently in use. We

considered emailing this material however, with passwords and

photocopies of work, the better option for privacy and home

printing was to disseminate this from school. We would ask that

parents ensure their details at school, in particular email

addresses are current so that this communication may

effectively occur.

Organised events

It will come as no surprise to everyone that all events with increased attendances or multi-school attendance has been

postponed or cancelled. This includes all PSSA sports, small schools events and training programs. At this stage however, we are pleased to continue our surf program. After consulting with the Departmental Sports body and assessing the situation in light of all advice, we intend to continue this program for our

students. Our school SRC is also planning a Harmony Day event in week 11, organised and facilitated by our current SRC.

hens last week and along with the 6 chickens returned to

loving interacting with them and can’t wait to hold, feed
