Discussion Questions: 1. Duncan found a friendly mouse to read to him, how would the story have been different if his friend was a butterfly or a fish? 2. What frightened Duncan so much that he climbed a tree? (a bull chased after him) 3. Why did the book always catch on fire? (When Duncan got excited about the book, his imagination caught fire) 4. How did Duncan meet his friend? (When he cried because he couldn’t finish the book, his tear rolled into the mouse) 5. Name at least two activities that Duncan and the mouse enjoyed together. (various answers including: reading, roasting marshmallows, eating hotdogs, imagining stories, sipping milkshakes, choosing books).
