COOKTOP OPERAT ION

The cooktop burner uses an electronic igniter inplace of a standing pilot. When the cooktop controlknob is pushed in and turned to the position, the system creates a spark to light the burner. Thissparking continues for 4 seconds or until the elec-tronic ignition senses a flame, which ever comesfirst. If the igniter fails to ignite the gas in 4 seconds, the gas safety shutoff valve will close, eliminatingthe gas flow for 5 seconds. The valve will reopenafter the purge time of 5 seconds, and the igniterwill automatically attempt to re-ignite the gas. Thiscycle of events is attempted 3 times. After the thirdattempt, in order for gas to flow to the burner onceagain, the user must return the knob to theposition and then turn the knob to theposition.

To check operation of the cooktop burner, push inand turn the control knob to the position. Theflame should light within four seconds.

If the burner does not light properly, turn the controlknob to the position. Check that the burnerhead is in the proper position. Check that the powersupply cord is plugged in and that the circuit breakeror house fuse has not blown.

Check operation again; If flame is not establishedwithin the ignition cycle time, release the knob, opena door and wait 1 minute before attempting a newignition procedure.

If the flames are extinguished - for any reasonwhatever - turn OFF the control knob and wait atleast 1 minute before retrying to ignite the burner.

Ensure that the flames do not extinguish when youreduce to low flame quickly. Check correct operationof each burner individually and in combination.

FLAME HEIGHT AND APPEARANCE

The flame on natural gas should be blue with adeeper blue core. and no yellow tipping. If burnersshow any abnormality check that burner heads arecorrectly located and refer to the ‘ trouble shootingguide’ on this page. If satifactory performance cannot be obtained, contact Multyflex. For servicecontact number refer page 13 of this booklet.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Initial lighting of the surfaceburners may take slightly longer, as air in thesystem must be purged before gas can be suppliedto the burner.
