What Is Dual Enrollment? When a student is enrolled in courses that count for both high school and college credit

These courses can be taught at the high school or at the college

Also Called: Concurrent Enrollment

Why Consider This Option

Get prepared for the academic rigors of college

Lower the cost of postsecondary education

Early exposure and understanding of what it will take to be successful in college

Diverse coursework options beyond what traditional high schools can offer

Non-resident students also eligible

Enrollment is limited to 11.9 units

FERPA applies to all students, regardless of age

Need parent and high school principal or designee permission

How to Get Started

1. Submit an application for enrollment through OpenCCC

2. Identify course(s) student would like to take (check prerequisites!)

3. Complete Special Recommendation form

4. Student turns form into DVC’s Admissions and Records office
