Drury Athlet ics | Logo Standards

2

Drury places great value on our university’s brands. The stylized words and symbols contained in this document allow us to be instantly identified and distinguished from competitors. Our brands also convey the promise of high quality to our students, alumni, sta, faculty and fans.

Using our brand marks properly will ensure consistency, strengthen our identity, build recognition and help us maintain the legal protections our trademarks have received.

This guide answers the most common design questions about how to properly use our key brand elements. Please share this guide with designers, printers and other communications vendors who support you.

If you have any questions that are not answered by this guide, please contact the Drury Oce of Marketing and Communications.

Primary Logos

The Drury Athletics logos consist of:

1 Primary Panther Logo

2 Primary Logotype (Word Mark)

The Primary Panther Logo or Word Mark shouldbe used in all cases, except when it is necessary to distinguish a particular sport or department.

Drury Athletics logos should never serve assubstitutes for the Drury University Logo.

Even though many updates are subtle, all previous artwork included in the Drury Athletics logo family should be replaced with the 2014 versions. Please contact the Drury Oce of Marketing and Commu-nications to receive your collection of logos.

Guidelines

1x clear space around all Panther logos and wordmarks where X is the height of the “D.”

1-1/4" minimum width for all Panther logos and word marks.1.25” 1.25”

Minimum Size

Do not reproduce any of the Drury Athletics logosat a size smaller than 1-1/4 inches.

Clear Space

When using any logo or word mark, leave a measured amount of space around the outside to maintain optimum readability. Always maintain a minimum space of 1x, where X is the height of the “D” portion of the logo, on all sides of the logo. Keep this area clear of other elements such as text, other artwork, rule lines and page edges. More spaceis always preferred.

Guidelines for Reproducing

Do not use third-generation art or low-resolution art downloaded from the Web for reproduction purposes. Low-resolution versions that work well on the Web arenot high enough resolution for printing. The logos mustbe used in their entirety at 100 percent color. They maynot be screened back. The logos must not be overprinted, manipulated, distressed or distorted. Such alterationswould damage the logo’s visual integrity. Incorrect usesof the Panther logos can be found on page 14.

Drury Primary Logo with Department Designation

This works best at a large size (chest of t-shirt, etc.).Also available as one-color art (see next page).

Signatures

Drury department signatures are identified by a distinctive, larger typeface than in previous versions so that they may be more visible and easier to reproduce or embroider. Each team will have its own signature, but without “Men’s” or “Women’s” as a descriptor appearing in front of the sport. Each logo will be provided digitally with the signature for easy use.

All of the usage, print guidelines and standard colors that apply to the Panther Logos also apply to these signatures. Panther signatures should be obtained as one piece of art from the Oce of Marketing and Communications. No other combinations of departments with Drury logos should be used (e.g., Panther Head above department, etc.). See “Incorrect Uses” on page 14 for examples of what not to do.

Other departments or student organizations on campus will need written permission from the Oce of Marketing and Communications to add any signature other than those shown on the example pages that follow.

Drury Logotype with Department Designation

This version should be used as an alternative to the logo with department signature above. It works best when vertical space is limited; however, the Primary Drury Logotype works best by itself (without department type) when embroidering .

DU with Department Designation

This option works best embroidered or printed at a small size (chest of golf shirt, etc.). Also available as one-color art (see next page).

Each new department signature will give you the flexibility of full-color reproduction or economical one-color versions. Each signature will be available as an individual art file and should be obtained from the Oce of Marketing and Communications.

Full Color: If reproducing on a dark background, use 3 spot colors (or thread colors). If usage ison white, only 2 colors are nececesary (red and black). In print, always use 4-color process (CMYK).

One Color: White on solid color

One Color: Red, black or gray on white

Always keep white outlines on logos when reproducing on dark backgrounds.

Colors

Consistent use of the Drury Athletics ocial colors is critical to building brand consistency and awareness.

The university’s primary colors are DU Scarlet (PMS 186) and Gray (PMS 431) and must be a prominent and integral part of any university communications produced in color.

When used in a four-color print job, it is critical that the correct CMYK color values are used. All logo files have new percentages of magenta, yellow and black.

Two-color and black-and-white options (not shown) are also available.

The font used to create the Drury logo family is not available for marketing communications. The typeface has been manipulated to create the unique branding identity, and attempting to recreate the font is not recommended.

The ocial fonts to be used in printed materials are from the Museo font families, available from Adobe. Use of these distinctive typefaces is required for external communications.

To purchase these fonts, go to www.adobe.com/type/. Fonts are available with single-user or multi-user licenses. Respect font-licensing agreements. Do not install single-user licensed fonts on computers other than the one for which the license was purchased. When purchasing multi-user licenses, do not install the fonts on more computers than the license permits.

Use logos with a white outline on all dark backgrounds.

Apparel

The use of four stitch colors or four screen colors is recommended on all apparel. However, screen printing on white requires only three colors. Please specify PMS colors of logos on all clothing.

If embroidering or screen printing in one color, use the one-color artwork shownon page 11.

13

Do not create color variations.

Do not combine logos that have not been approved or already provided as one-piece art.

Do not use legacy or outdated logos. Do not use an unapproved font for signature.

Do not customize with additional items. Do not combine with other artwork. Do not create new logos.

Do not screen, skew or distort. Do not place on a background that does not provide enough contrast. Use outline version.
