AkzoNobel’s Specialty Chemicals (SC) Business Area operates a large number of advanced production sites worldwide. In order to sell our products in a global marketplace it is essential that we produce clear, accurate and up-to-date safety documentation such as Safety Data Sheets and product labels.

This function is performed for SC by a Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs (PS&RA) Shared Services organization. At the heart of PS&RA is a Content Data team responsible for feeding data into all areas of product safety and regulatory affairs.

Within this structure, the focus of this position is to ensure that content relating to SAP EH&S enhancements and projects are properly executed and managed through the BAIM organizational structure. The role and its responsibilitiesWorking from Deventer in the Netherlands, but another location in the Netherlands could be discussed, you are responsible for wide-ranging technical, strategic, leadership and knowledge management EH&S activities as you evaluate and optimize organizational design and (work) processes. Above all, your focus is to ensure that the regulatory content in the System is current with respect to global requirements.

Thus you coordinate the efficient and timely execution of the annual ‘road map’ for SAP EH&S. and deliver timely updates. You also facilitate the delivery of harmonized System services, coordinating work processes and information sharing to all users.

Further, you manage and safeguard the regulatory data and content information necessary to facilitate the globally compliant delivery of SDS; product and transport labels; and classifications for dangerous goods/hazardous materials for all products for all SAP EH&S System Users. You also oversee the data maintenance of key data placeholders in the EH&S environment such as list substances, pure substances and dangerous goods classification substances.

In addition, you coordinate and perform the testing, evaluation and analysis of new functionalities, securing the continuous improvement of data and content support as well as efficient working procedures.

You participate in and/or manage content development projects and participate in cross-functional teams, providing advice and/or customer and manufacturing support at request or at own initiative.

In terms of Knowledge Management you keep up with internal and external developments and ensure the development, sharing and retention of knowledge and information within team.

With regard to Strategy you provide input for the product safety strategy in order to secure global compliance for the BASC portfolio, and implement business support strategy in your own team.

Candidate profileTo apply for this significant position you must possess the following attributes:

• University degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or IT with 5-7 years of relevant experience;• Advanced skills in, and at least 5 years’ experience of, working with SAP EH&S at a specialist and manager level;• Excellent knowledge about product safety regulations and their impact on the business;• Effective management skills including the ability to form and make use of strong networks across our complex matrix organization;• Advanced skills in database management and efficient analysis of large data quantities are highly desirable;• Strong communication skills including fluent written and spoken English.
