Coiled Tubing Drilling
A new drilling technique involves using coiled tubing unit instead of conventional drill rig. Someadvantages of Coiled Tubing Drilling are, requiring less effort to trip in and out of the well and
providing a hydraulic seal around the coil (ability to drill underbalanced). In Coiled Tubing Drilling thedrill bitrotates by a downhole MUD MOTOR (powered by the motion of drilling fluid pumped fromsurface), instead of using a rotary table or top drive at the surface.A coiled tubing unit with 10,000 feet length of 2 inches OD pipe, 0.134 inches wall thickness and QT-1000 HSLAS (High Strength Low-Alloy Steel) material is drilling 4-1/8 inches hole with a positivedisplacement motor and a PDC Bit in depth of 7,200 ft. The wellbore has been secured by casing 5inches ID, 13 Lb/ft specific weight and material property K-55 from surface to 5,500 ft. A modelTPH-400 triplex single acting pump along with a C-15 CAT engine as a mechanical prime mover areused to pump the fluid through coiled tube. Pressure drop in Coiled tube is 10% more than Straighttube.

1. Calculate the amount of Barite and Bentoniterequired drilling a permeable formation?(Assume adding two mass parts of Barite and one mass part of Bentonite.)
2. Calculate the position of the neutral point, Hook load and indicated depth on counter? (Use theassumption that pressure contributes to buckle the drill string).
3. What is flow pattern through Coiled tube, Drill Collars, Nozzles and Annulus, at 100 GPMand ε /D=0.0035?
4. What is the Engine fuel consumption rate?
