2 Procurement&Supplymanagement(SCM308):Thecoursewillcovertheprinciplesofprocurementmanagement,whichisacquiringproductsandservicesneededfortheprojectfromoutsidetheprojectteam.TheProcurementManagementprocessesforvariousitems,speciallyfoodandbeverageswillbereviewedincludinginputs,keytoolsandtechniques,andoutputs.Typicalprocurementactivitieswillbedescribedfromthemake-or-buydecisiontocontractawardtocontractclosure.Thekeyelementsthatshouldbeincludedinaprocurementmanagementplanwillbepresented.Thestagesofacontractnegotiationwillalsobereviewed.Thiscoursewillreviewkeycontractterminology,selectioncriteriaandthekeyelementsofacontract.Thetypesofcontractsthatcanbeusedwillbereviewedincludingvariationsoffixedprice,costreimbursableandtime&material.Selectingthecorrectcontracttypeanddealingwithcontractriskswillalsobecovered.Thiscourseincludesmultipleexercisestoallowattendeestopracticethecourseconcepts.

3 PrinciplesofBusinessStatistics(STAT301):BusinessStatisticsisthesciencethatdealswiththecollection,description,analysis,interpretation,andpresentationofdata.Statisticscanbeusedtodescribeaparticulardataset(termeddescriptivestatistics)aswellastodrawconclusionsaboutthepopulationfromaparticulardataset(termedinferentialstatistics).TheCourseforPrinciplesofBusinessStatisticshelpsapplystatisticalmethodsinabusinesscontextinordertoaddressbusinessrelatedquestionsandhelpmakeevidencebaseddecisions.InPrinciplesofBusinessStatisticsthestudentslearntousecommonlyusedstatisticalmethodsinbusinesscontextsandinterprettheirresults.Thecoursecontentsareorganizedtodelivertopicssuchas,differentiatingbetweentypesofdata(primaryandsecondary),processandtechniquesforcollectingdata(samplingmethodsandprobability)organizingdata(descriptivestatisticslikefrequencytables,histograms,frequencypolygonsetc.andinterpretingdataandtestinghypothesis(inferentialstatisticslikechisquareANOVA,correlation,regressionetc.).Keepinginmindthatthecourseisengagedbythestudentsfrombusinessadministration,topicssuchastimeseries,indexnumbersandforecastinghavealsobeenincludedtointegratemethodsthatareactuallyusedinthebusinessdomain.

4 TotalQualitymanagement(SCM305):TotalQualityManagement(TQM)isascientificapproachfororganizationstobeinvolvedinthecontinuousimprovementofprocessesandsystems.ThecoursealsointroducestheconceptoforganizationalexcellencethroughimplementingcompanywidequalitymanagementprogramandtheimportanceofCustomer.Studentswhocompletethiscoursewillbeabletocriticallyappraisequalitymanagementtechniques,chooseappropriatequalitymanagementtoolslike5S,Benchmarking,TQM,JITetc.forimprovingprocessesandrecommendingwaystoimprovethem.Studentsalsolearntoanalyzetheimportanceoftraining,leadershipdevelopmentandhumanresourcemanagement.

LearningfromcompanieswhoimplementedQualityManagementconceptsisofparamountimportancewhiletakingthiscourse.KnowledgeofCorporatesocialresponsibilityandethicsarealsonecessaryinordertomakeinformedbusinessdecisionsbythestudentswhowillworkincompaniesinfuture.

5 Planning&ControlinSupplyChainManagement(SCM302):Thewarehouseisanessentialpartoftoday’ssupplychain.Thecourseinvolvesstudentsinsourcing,producing,anddistributionofgoods.Thecourseteachescrucialissuesinanybusinessorganizationregardingwarehousemanagement.Inthiscoursestudentsdiscussinlengththeoperationsofawarehouseandhowtooperatethisfunctioninanefficientandeffectivemannerinordertominimizethecost.

6 PrinciplesofManagement(MGMT203):Thiscoursewillcoverthefivemajorfunctionsofmanagementandtheirroleinformulatingandapplyingtheobjectives,policies,andproceduresinmanagingasuccessfulbusiness.Therewillbeanemphasisonindividualandgroupbehavior,communication,thedecision-makingprocess,leadership,andmotivationinrelationtothefunctionsofmanagement.Managementtheorieswillbeintroducedinthiscourse.Thiscoursewillincludeasystematicstudyofmanagementtheoryandpractice
