Many businesses are discovering theiremployees simply do not have the skillsto be resilient, agile and innovative intheir thinking.   In this series of targeted webinars, theOranges Toolkit addresses the risingconcerns of leaders and theirworkforces. These interactive and practicalsessions are based on the latestevidence and interventions fromthe fields of positive psychology, neuroscience and emotionalintelligence.   Now more than ever, investing andsupporting your workforce to developresilience and optimism will equipyour organisation to not only facecurrent challenges now, but to thrivein an uncertain future.

For some organisations, near-termsurvival is the only agenda item. Others

are peering through the fog ofuncertainty, thinking about how to

position themselves once the crisis haspassed and things return to normal.

The question is, ‘What will normal looklike?’ While no one can say how long thecrisis will last, what we find on the other

side will not look like the normal ofrecent years.

Everything has changed.  Just a few weeks ago,we were living our busy but familiar lives. Things we have taken for granted in the past - thedaily commute, café meetings and interstatetravel are now temporarily, if not indefinitely, onhold as we ride the wave of COVID-19.

social distancing

doesn't mean

social isolation

News reports of increasing infections and deathscaused by the Coronavirus can understandablyincrease our anxiety, uncertainty and fear about thehealth and safety of our loved ones. This fear is alsocompounded by the anticipated economic downturnand our ability to live the lives we were soaccustomed to living. These are unprecedented times. For the first time inmodern history, we're required to isolate ourselves inour homes. But extreme situations require extremeaction. We must now adapt our way of being to slowand suppress the spread of this virus.  This, of coursebrings new challenges and the need for new ways ofworking. Already, leaders are reporting concerns about theirworkforce working remotely and the impact ofphysical (social) distancing on the productivity, motivation, engagement, performance and wellbeingof their people, while they implement their businesscontinuity plans. Leaders are also concerned about how, as humans,we navigate the uncertainty of these times andprovide for our loved ones whilst staying connectedand hopeful.

How do you lead and inspire employeesamid a global pandemic that's creatinganxiety and uncertainty everywhere? Formany of us, this will be the mostunprecedented time in our lives, unlike anyexperience we have had before. Based on research from Gallup (2020), onething is clear - global citizens look toleadership to provide a path - and provideconfidence that there is a way forward. Infact, they report that in times of crisis, thereare two directions human nature can takeus: fear, helplessness and victimisation - orself-actualisation and engagement. Optimism is often described as ‘the beliefthat tomorrow will be better than today’whilst hope is ‘the belief you have theagency to make it so’. You’d be forgiven ifyou were feeling a little low on both rightabout now. In fact, in times of uncertainty,it’s completely natural to feel this way. But, studies have found hope has a directimpact on our confidence, commitment andproductivity. Equally, research demonstratesthat optimism enhances our quality of life -it’s probably worth investing in both! In this highly interactive webinar we:
