Summary:
I’m currently working with Geo Television Network and The News International as Special Investigative Correspondent in Pakistan
since October 2015. I’m also contributing for The Washington Post and CNN International from Islamabad. Before it, I was an
Alfred Friendly Fellow where I had worked with The Kansas City Star and McClatchy DC in the United States in 2014. I’ve also
been reporting for The Express Tribune, partner of International New York Times in Islamabad from 2010 to 2015. I also
remained a fellow at International Institute for Journalism in Nepal in 2013 under South Asia Youth at Risk Programme. In 2012, I
represented Pakistan at South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) which offered me SAARC Leadership
Fellowship where I produced a book titled: “From Shadows to Reality, a Way Forward for SAARC.” Before this, I attended
Summer Academy 2012 at the International Institute for Journalism, Germany in 2012, where I studied politics and ethics in media
in this digital age. In 2011, I attended Boot-camp course to study politics and environment at the Centre for Science and
Environment Centre, India. My work has also been appeared in more than 20 print, TV, and online publications in Norway, U.S.,
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Germany and Nepal.
Practical Experience:
More than nine years experience in investigative and data-driven reporting ranging from politics, homeland security; counter
terrorism; diplomatic issues, environment; economic reforms; human rights; minorities' issue; poverty reduction strategy at all levels,
health issues and multimedia story telling in particular.
Current Nature of Job:
My major responsibilities for Geo Television and its sisters newspapers—The News International and Daily Jang—are to file
investigative and data-driven reports on all major issues in Pakistan. Most of time, I spend in volatile areas and capital of Pakistan.
Also, I’m mentoring colleagues to develop skill in investigative and in-depth reporting. I 'm also assigned to present/write articles
and news stories about the proceedings of the parliament, activities of major political parties, violation of human rights and
natural disasters. I cover issues like militancy, terrorism and a bit of politics for. I cover issues like militancy, terrorism and a bit of
politics for The Washington Post and CNN International.
Previous Organizations:
I’ve worked for The Express Tribune, partner of International New York Times from 2010 to 2015. I’ve also
contributed for Express 24/7 (English News Television Channel), Express News (Urdu Language News Television Channel) and daily Express (Urdu Newspaper)—sister organizations of The Express Tribune.
I’ve also been worked with daily The Nation as staff correspondent from September 2009 to March 2010. My
assignments for the paper included a diverse variety of issues ranging from Pakistan's Supreme Court to
politics, minorities to human rights.
I’ve one and half year experience with daily Pakistan Observer as staff correspondent/special correspondent.
It is best known for its sharp focus and thorough coverage of diplomatic and social issues.
Reporting Experience Abroad:
I've been reported on multiple issues ranging from America, India, Sri Lanka, Germany, Norway and Nepal since 2011.
I’ve been interviewed leading political leaders as well as military generals of India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
