The Most Holy Trinity
Year C
Gospel Passage
John 16: 12-15
Children’s Liturgy Preparation
This gospel is about: The Trinity:
The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit
Catechist Context: In celebration the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, we reflect on the
mystery of the three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In today’s
Gospel Jesus says that all that is of the Father belongs to the Son, and
the Holy Spirit guides Christians into this truth that continues to
unfold. We are called to reflect to others the great love of our triune
God. As you try and explain the mystery of the Trinity, don’t worry if
it doesn’t seem to make sense. It’s a mystery. All we can do is
present the truth. God is One, but Three. There are three Persons,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and they are God. Also, remember that
the children have a greater ability to accept mysteries. They don’t try
and understand it, they have a natural faith that can sometimes
surpass our own.
By His own death and Resurrection, Christ has trampled down death
and brought a fullness of life that has been shared with us. We
become daughters and sons who can call out in the Holy Spirit to our
Creator and Father.
Liturgical Season: We are now officially back in Ordinary Time. We begin this part of
Ordinary Time by celebrating the mystery of God as Trinity. Today,
we use a white cloth on our prayer table, on the Altar, and the
priest’s vestments are white, because it is a feast day. After today,
the priest will wear green, and we will use green cloths on the altar
and our prayer table.
Optional Trinity Song Trinity Song: Teach the children this simple echo song to the tune of
“Frere Jacques,” and use it as a prayer at the beginning or end of
your gathering. You may add the Sign of the Cross gestures to the
song.
God the Father, God the Father.
God the Son, God the Son.
God the Holy Spirit, God the Holy Spirit.
Three in one, Three in one.

Children’s Liturgy Presentation
This gospel is about: The Trinity:
The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit
Talking Points The feast today is about the mystery of God and the mission of
Jesus and the working of the Holy Spirit. It is about the Trinity.
Today is very special for us, because our parish is named after the
Holy Trinity.
The Holy Trinity is one of the great mysteries of our faith. We
might not understand everything with our minds, but we have
faith and understanding through our hearts.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is speaking. He says that the Holy Spirit
will show us what is true. He says that the Holy Spirit will teach us
like Jesus teaches us. That is because the Holy Spirit is God. Jesus
is God and the Father is God too!
The Trinity is like an apple...The apple is made up of the skin,
flesh, and the seeds, yet is all One.
The Father is God.
Jesus is God
The Holy Spirit is God.
Each member of the Holy Trinity is a Person, someone who we
can get to know.
