Activity 1 - Listen to the extract from ‘Take me Outdoors’ being read to you by your adult. Try and join in
with some of the words you know. This week y ou will become an EXPLORER and you will be going on an
NATURE ADVENTURE around your local park/field/garden/woods!
Activity 2 - All good explorers are prepared! Write down a list of 10 things you, as an explorer will need to
take with you on your nature adventure! Don’t forget to use your phonics skills and rewind back to the
beginning so you know what sound comes next. Eg. map, bag, snacks, pot, pad, pen
Activity 3 - All good explorers plan ahead! Draw a map for the route you will take for your upcoming nature
adventure. Label significant places and roads. Don’t forget to use capital letters for names of places, includ-
ing shop/street /park names!
Activity 4 - All good explorers love adventures! Go on your nature trail walk with your adult using your map
and taking with you the things you need. Keep your eyes peeled!
Activity 5 - All good explorers share their adventures! Write a letter to your teacher/family member/friend
telling them all about your nature walk. Your letter should include capital letters for beginning of sentences/
names of people/names of places, clear finger spaces, full stops, a question (Have you been to Lightoaks
Park before?), the word ‘and’ to join 2 sentences (I saw a tree and it was swaying in the wind) and commas
in a list (I saw a tall, green, bushy tree.)

- what you saw (trees/plants/animals)
- what you smelt
- what you felt
- what you heard (bird song/trees sway)
