THE ORANGE COUNTY MUSTANG CLUB In 1987 a group of individuals, who appreciated the beauty and performance of the Ford Mustang, joined together to form the Orange County Mustang Club. Their purpose was to promote the restoration, preservation and enjoyment of the Ford Mustang. To perpetuate this goal members, pay early dues, meet monthly, promote car shows, hold social activities, take cruises, and attend parades and other activities to foster their love for the Ford Mustang. Any person who owns or appreciates the Ford Mustang, no matter what model or year, is welcome to join, Ownership is not obligatory, but enthusiasm is.

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT January 2020 is in the books already and February rolling in strong. We started the year like we finished 2019…..busy. In January we saw a couple of big cruises around the OC where, as expected, the OCMC was out in force. The Tour D’ Orange and the Jeff’s Fun Run. We also had another successful Wrenchin in the Garage. A big thank you to Roger and his team at Stadium Automotive! The car show season was officially kicked off with the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona.
As we roll into February, we have several events again where the OCMC will be participating. On February 15th, the Daytona 500 race will be happening. The world-famous Jeff Grant’s Daytona 500 Party will be happening. This will be followed up the following week on the 22nd with the Temecula Wine Cruise and a stop at the Tilted Kilt. Always a fun cruise.
Also happening on February 22nd is the Whittier Area Community Church car show. We have a large group of members attending this show as well.
On March 14th, we have our first ever cruise to the Reagan Library! This will be a joint cruise with the South Bay Mustang Owners Club. As we plan the remainder of the year it is shaping up to be another record year. Fliers will be coming out for the June show in the beginning of February. This will be our first year at the Enderle Center. Better venue, more centrally located. Our 2020 membership drive is well underway with a couple of members driving hard for those OCMC jackets. We are closing in on that magical number 500th member! The 2020 board is working hard to make this another great year for the OCMC. Keep in mind we are always looking for volunteers to help out. Whether at one of our car shows or helping out on a cruise or poker run. Please keep your eyes posted on our club website ( www.ocmustangclub.org ) as well as our Facebook page for announcements. The OCMC - the premier car club in Southern California.
Here is to a great 2020! Paul Montesano OCMC President 2020

Chat and Chew January 21, 2020
Quite a few if us, eighteen to be exact, started the year off right and met at the Waterfront Café on Jan. 21st for OCMC’s monthly Chat and Chew breakfast. Outlaw Toni joined us as well as Driving Miss Daisy Packard, new member Diana Tuseth. Usually what’s said at CnC stays at CnC, but I couldn’t resist sharing this. I overheard Diana say she’s so glad she joined our exciting club because the Packard club—well, b-o-r-i-n-g. Come join our breakfast next time, Tuesday, Feb. 18th. You’ll be glad you did. Monthly Veteran
Welcome New Member
Please give a big OCMC welcome to one of our new members, John Davis. John owns a “pretty much original” 1968 Acapulco Blue 289 Mustang convertible. He loved the 289 he had in a ’62 Willys Jeep. The photo of him with his family was taken the day he brought the car home six months ago. The other photo is from the December “Light a Light of Love” parade in Huntington Beach. The ’68 convertible is not his first Mustang. He owned an ’86 all black GT convertible and an ‘89 white with white interior, black top convertible LS with a 5.0. John is a mortgage banker, Cub Scout leader, husband, father and grandfather. He tells us his favorite car event (so far) is Donut Derelicts, and he joined OCMC to connect to more events. He’s looking forward to getting to know other OCMC members and learning about their rides. It’s obvious John loves Mustang convertibles. We hope he puts that top down and joins us on one of our fun OCMC cruises. Welcome, John! Edited by Barb DeLong
This month’s honored Vet is Bill Cunningham, Navy Commander. Bill saw ten years active duty and twelve years reserve. Bill’s service began in 1977 when he joined the ROTC while at the University of Minnesota. After college he became an ensign and attended aviation flight school where he received his wings as a Naval Flight Officer. Although he didn’t pilot the plane, he operated advance systems on board to aid in spotting Russian subs during the Cold War. In later years he looked for drug runners. While in the service, Bill was active in three areas: Hawaii, Sacramento as a flight instructor, and northern Japan. He met his wife of 28 years in Japan. Gail was a teacher on base and was originally from Massachusetts. After they married, he moved from full time Navy to part time reserves on Whidbey Island, Washington. They have one son who is currently in college. In 2003 he retired and the family moved to California. In 2016 they bought an eco-boost Mustang convertible in competition orange. His wife bought him an OCMC membership for their anniversary. Smart lady. They weren’t very active in the club their first year, but when they renewed, they decided to change all that and are looking forward to cruising with the club on the upcoming Temecula Wine Cruise. The Orange County Mustang Club honors Bill Cunningham. Thank you for your service!

Chris Hughes and Rudy Deleon Re-Match February 16th at Auto Club Dragway
Chris Hughes arrived on January 1st at the Tour d’ Orange looking to meet other Mustang owners. Paul Montesano was a parking attendant and guided him right into our group. Very quickly he realized just how warm, friendly and fun the Orange County Mustang Club members are. That night he got on the internet and became a member. He and his family have been coming to lots of events. Chris owns a 2014 3.7L Black Convertible Mustang. He recently installed a MagnaFlow “Rumble Series” exhaust system and then added an X pipe to perfect the sound and extra power he wanted. He loves to take his pony to the Auto Club Speedway for Street Legal racing. Last month he met Rudy Deleon racing his 2019 2.3 L Red EcoBoost. Who won???? You’ll have to ask them. Encouraged by Chris’s enthusiasm for our club, Rudy has joined also. They’re going back on February 16th for a re-match and would welcome you to cheer them on or race against them.
Bring your street legal vehicle or motorcycle to race in a safe and controlled environment.

While getting older, I’ve realized that:
1. I talk to myself, because sometimes I need expert help. 2. I don’t need help with my anger, people just have to stop pissing me off. 3. There’s nothing wrong with my social behavior. It’s the idiots that are to blame. 4. The biggest lie I tell myself is ‘I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it.’ 5. When I was little, I saw taking a nap was a punishment. Now I see it as a mini-holiday. 6. Not even duct tape helps with stupidity, but it does help to muffle the sound. 7. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could put ourselves in the dryer for 10 minutes and come out three sizes smaller? 8. “Getting lucky” means entering a room and remembering what I went in for.
The Funny Bukkit
ENGLISH IS HARD
1. The bandage was wound around the wound. 2. The farm was used to produce produce. 3. the dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse. 4. We must polish the Polish furniture. 5. He could lead if he would get the lead out. 6. The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert. 7. Since there is not time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present. 8. A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum. 9. When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes. 10. I did not object to the object. 11. The insurance was invalid for the invalid. 12. There was a row among the oarsmen
about how to row. 13. They were too close to the door to close it.
My wife asked if she could have a little
peace and quiet while she cooked dinner…
So I took the battery out of the smoke alarm. I don’t want to brag or make anybody
jealous, but… I can still fit into the
earrings I wore in High School.
I asked my friend if he'd bought his wife a gift for Valentine's Day. He's a bit of a chauvinist pig so he surprised me when he replied, "Yeah, I've got her a belt and a bag." I said, "That's very thoughtful of you. I hope she appreciates it." He said, "So do I. And hopefully the vacuum cleaner will work much better now."
My girlfriend told me she hoped I had something special planned for Valentine's Day. I said, "I'm working on it." and she smiled. Which was weird; I thought she'd be upset that I'm having to work on Valentine's Day.

There are many words to describe Barb DeLong, besides sweet, friendly & fun. I also think of her as stealth. She sneaks around and helps at car shows, events, the newsletter and meetings. You don’t have to ask her – she’s just there. It’s like she has a special radar…she knows where she can help and she’s there.
A few years ago, she helped with a temporary OCMC “Chat N Chew” vacancy and she’s still there every month leading that growing event. Thank you, Barb, we appreciate you very much. You’re our SweetHeart!
