their growth as well. Research shows a correlation between feelings of happiness/ gratitude
and one’s ability to learn and stay motivated. Discover how to tap into these traits in
your students by examining practical approaches and vignettes
Creating the Ultimate Judaic Studies Classroom: December 23 – January 9
Facilitated by Aaron Ross Learn about the philosophy behind Project-Based Learning (PBL), which advocates learning
through doing, and discover how this model can be applied to even the most text-based Judaic Studies lesson.
Topics to be covered include: devising a driving question for the PBL project,
finding an authentic audience, and applying tried and true PBL rubrics for effective learning.
Common Core Standards and Writing: January 27 - February 10
Facilitated by Dr. Emily Witty Participants in this module will become proficient in applying the TOWERR
method for organizing and writing informative and explanatory pieces. This method can be used for both classroom assignments, including book reports, essays, as
well as writing required on the long-response of the Common Core exams.

Facilitated by Lisa Fusco This course will illustrate how to create a positive introduction to reading fluency and comprehension that sill set the stage for future academic success. Participants in this
course will immediately be able to put into practice strategies for decoding and reading comprehension. This module will also provide participants with the opportunity
to reflect on their experiences over the course of this module
Finding the Picasso in Pedagogy: February 10 - 24
Facilitated by Laurie Bellet Create an experiential learning experience that will leave a lasting impression on students.
Through a lens of the developmental and sociological importance of incorporating art into the learning experience, participants will discover the difference between
“art” and “craft” and identify which best supports students’ learning outcomes. Participants will also design one or more art lesson plans to support their
curricular areas and bring back to their classrooms
