Why I Love Music…
By: Katie Amar - Fox
My love for music started at a very young age with my parents and their friends who are musicians. I
would always look at them playing their instruments and say that’s what I want to do.
My first memory of music is when I was three and went to my parents friends Stephan Kukurugya’s house. He took me into his recording studio and I got to bang on the drums, strike the piano and strum the guitar.
When I was six years old I continued my love for music by playing piano. I’ve played it ever sense and LOVE it!!!
Another fond memory I have of music is going to Kid’s Symphonies with my parents when I was about seven. It was cool to hear the performers and after the show you could try out all the different instruments used.
When I was going into 6th grade we could join band and I jumped at the opportunity. Now I play the
oboe for symphonic band as my primary instrument and the alto saxophone for marching band.
I remember my first solo and ensemble when I was in 7th grade. I was crazy nervous for it but in the end I got a one (best rating possible) so all’s well that ends well.
My love for music only grew when my parents told me I could go to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp when I was in 7th grade. I’ve been there twice now and can’t wait to go back.
I’ve always been playing at piano recitals. I think for about nine years and I still get butterflies every time before I go up to perform.
The older I’ve gotten the more I’ve performed. I remember performing at my church/benefits from age 8 till now and I
still get a rush of excitement before I go to perform.
No matter if I’m watching a concert or performing in it. Music’s so much better when it’s LIVE!
THE END!!!
