Who We AreEstablished in 1941, The Institute of Internal
Auditors (IIA) is an international professional
association serving over 170,000 members in
more than 165 countries. With headquarters
in Altamonte Springs (Orlando), Florida, USA,
The IIA is the internal audit profession’s global
voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader,
chief advocate, and principal educator. It is an
exciting time to be an internal auditor, and it is
amazing to think how the profession has advanced
since a dedicated group of internal auditors
founded The Institute, nearly 70 years ago.
They recognized a need for an organization that
represented their profession, provided continuing
education opportunities, and set and maintained
the International Standards for the Professional
Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards).
Today The IIA is a vibrant global organization
continually rising to the challenges faced by
internal auditors around the world. That’s why
Membership Means More at The IIA.
