Welcome to Washington Elementary School
A picture guide for students and families
Washington Elementary is where I will be
going to school.
My ride will drop me off in front of the building. A
quick goodbye is best!
I will walk to the front door. If the door is locked I can push the white button on the wall. A voice will ask " May I help you?". I will say my name and the door will unlock. The door can be a
little heavy so I need to pull hard!
Once I am through the doors I will head to the
gym. In the morning the gym is a busy place! This
is where I can eat breakfast and sit with my classmates. A picture of
my teacher will be there to show where I need to be. At 8:00 a teacher will
ask us to walk to our halls quietly.
The hallways are busy places too! I will see lots of kids, classrooms, and lockers.
I will look for my locker. It will be close to my classroom with my name on it. In my locker I can hang my backpack and sweater on a hook. After I put my things in my locker I will walk into my classroom where I can say "Good morning!" to
my teacher.
Sometimes my class will go to different places in the building to do different
things. Here is the front office! The secretary is
there to answer the phones and to help kids if they get lost or need something. I will need to go to the front office if I am ever late to
school.
Mrs. Hornung, our Principal is also in there. She makes sure that everyone is doing their best for the teachers!

When kids get hurt or don't feel well they go to the nurse's office. Mrs. Freund keeps lots of band aides and ice packs in here!

This is our music room! We will learn to sing
and dance in here.
Ms. Jones will play the piano for
us! Ms. Jones Music
During the day the gym is used
for playing games and
exercise. Mrs. Olsen will teach
us about teamwork and being a good
sport! Mrs. Olsen

We will head back to the gym to have lunch. Lunchtime is a busy time for everyone! I will look
for teachers to help me get to where I need to go. I will use good table manners!
Ms. Hatfield will teach us how to draw and color. It will be
fun!

In the library, Mrs.

and be kind to books. She
will even read us a story! Mrs. McConnel

This is the Guidance Center. Mrs. Stickler is our guidance
counselor. We will learn about
making good choices and being a good friend in
her room!

Twice a day we will have recess outside. I can play on the playground with my friends. If it rains we will have recess inside. Following the rules and playing
nicely with my friends is important!
At the end of the day I will meet my ride in front of the building to go home. If I need to wait for my ride I will sit nicely on the bench. It is important that my parents send notes to my teacher if there are any changes in
how I go home.
Washington School is a fun and safe place to be. I am
excited to begin!
