What are Emergency Procedures?
A document that includes different plans for emergencies that may happen on campus as well as off campus.
Why do we have emergency procedures?• We have them to help assist us in time of need when we may not know
what to do
• We work to establish uniformity in each chapter in order to follow the Policies & Procedures set forth by Alpha Phi.
Why do we update emergency procedures?• Helps us to prepare for what could happen
• Helps us keep calm and collected during an emergency
• Helps us figure out what to do after an emergency happens
• Allows us to account for all members in our chapter after an emergency
• Suggested time to update: After recruitment during the fall and spring
What situations may arise? • Assault, Sexual Assault, and/or Rape
• Fire
• Weather Related (tornado, flood, snow storm, earthquakes, etc.)
• Suicide
• Shooting/bombing
• Threats
• Intoxication
• Cyber stalking/harassment
What should be included?• Contact list for all Exec members, advisors, and the Executive Office
including the emergency number
• Procedures for what to do during the emergency
• A contact list and how your chapter will make it work
• Post-emergency procedures
• Campus Resources and contact information
• AΦ Watchcare Hotline
• How to sign up for text/email alerts from the university
• Extension team leads contact information
How do we educate our members?• Review the plan in the Fall and Spring
• Talk about the plan in New Member Education
• Keep the plan located in a obvious location and tell members where it is located
• Ensure that the exec team regularly reviews the plan to know what to do in the event of an emergency
• Practice each emergency at lease once a year
Who is the plan for?• All members of the chapter
• Living in the house
• Living on campus
• Living off campus
• Advisors & HCB/CPC
• Guests that may be in the house or living areas
• Off campus events
Who is a risk management specialist?
• Currently there are 10 volunteers
• Part of the Operations Department
• All have some type of background in Risk Management or Emergency Training
• They are here to assist you with editing and/or creating Emergency Procedure documents
• Colonies will be assigned a RMS when fall begins
