I. INTRODUCTION
A VLF-EM survey was conducted over cut lines in McGarry
Township during November and December 1987.
II. LOCATION, ACCESS AND OWNERSHIP
The property is located in the north-east part of McGarry
Township, Larder Lake Mining Division, District of Temiskaming,
Ontario. The claims are numbered L842854 to 842855, L842931 to
842933 inclusive, L842935, L842938, L843324 to 843325, L893826,
L894505 and L1015036 to 1015040 inclusive. They are recorded in
the name of Garrison Gold Inc. c/o Box 1110, Sault Ste. Marie,
Ontario.
Access is by a gravel bush road running north and west
from Cheminis Station on the Ontario Northland Railway. Cheminis
is connected to Highway 66 at the village of Kerns by a paved
secondary road. The bush road runs through the claims on the
south and west parts about l to 1^ miles from Cheminis. Cheminis
is about 2 miles from Kerns, Ontario.
III. PREVIOUS EXPLORATION
The property was previously explored in the late 1930's
by some surface pits and diamond drilling. Exact records of this
work have now been lost but significant gold values over narrow
widths were reported in one hole. Assay data for many of the
other holes is missing.
COLEX EXPLORATIONS INC. PAGE NO.
IV. TOPOGRAPHY
Nearly all of the property is covered by Pleistocene,
sand/ gravel or swamp. In the sandy areas which cover a large
part of the property, forest cover consists of jackpine, spruce
and some poplar and labrador tea. The swampy areas are covered
with black spruce, alder, willow and some poplar.
V. MAPPING PROCEDURE
A grid line was cut approximately 1^ years ago over
a part of the property. This was utilized where existing and
the baseline and crosslines were extended as required to cover ,
the additional claims. Crosslines were cut every 100 metres.
The picket lines were chained and picketed every 25 metres.
A VLF-EM survey was run with a Phoenix VLF-2 instrument
set to the signal from Cutler, Maine (24 KHz). Readings were
taken at 25-metre intervals along all the lines, using the
procedure outlined in Appendix I. The looping method was used
for control of variation as in the magnetometer survey.
VI. GENERAL GEOLOGY
The general geology of McGarry Township has been described
by J.E. Thomson. The area is underlain by early Precambrian volcanic,
sedimentary and intrusive rocks. The claims cover the contact
between Temiskaming group rocks to the south and older Kinojevis
group volcanic rocks to the north.
COLEX EXPLORATIONS INC. PAGE NO. 3
VII. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
There are a number of VLF-EM cross-overs which have
been lettered A to H inclusive on the geophysical plan. As well
there are a number of one line cross-overs which may or may not be
significant. None of the VLF-EM anomalies appear to have been
tested in previous exploration work. A geological survey over
part of the grid shows the anomalies all lie in areas of overburden,
VIII. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The VLF-EM survey for the Cutler station did not pick
up the mineralized zone which was explored in previous surface
and diamond drilling exploration. The anomalies may represent
other zones of shearing or mineralization, which with the known
presence of gold in the property should be further tested by
trenching or diamond drilling.
Respectfully submitted
