Project has 4 objectivesProject has 4 objectives
ASTA Funded ProjectASTA Funded Project
Objective 1: Examine the process of infection of spinach plants by V. dahliae from seedborne and soilborne inoculum, particularly with respect to earliness of bolting and development of Verticillium wilt symptoms.
ASTA Funded ProjectASTA Funded Project
Objective 2:Objective 2: Assess the efficacy of conventional and organic seed treatments and soil drenches for protecting spinach against soilborne inoculum of V. dahliae (the efficacy against seedborne inoculum is being evaluated in the CLGRP project).
ASTA Funded ProjectASTA Funded Project
Objective 3:Objective 3: Identify thresholds for soilborne vs. seedborne inoculum of V. dahliae for spinach cultivars with different levels of susceptibility to Verticillium wilt, and the influence of soil pH and soil type on V. dahliae inoculum potential from seedborne vs. soilborne sources.
ASTA Funded ProjectASTA Funded Project
Objective 4:Objective 4: Determine the influence of soil microbial activity and soil fumigation on seed transmission, soil infestation, and development of Verticillium wilt as a result of planting spinach seed infected with V. dahliae
