VATSIM North Africa Division Executive Summary for Q1 2013 April 13, 2013 Activity in NAF has been very low in Q1 2013 with relatively few events and new controller promotions. We do not have stats available, however, controller activity on the weekends appears to be consistent. Summary from Algiers-‐Morocco: Hi Thomas Our operations are very weak, there is very little activity at this time , We try to prepare a partnership with vatfrance especially to prepare the pilot training P1 . we just finished the scene of Oran, there are still some finishing but it will allow the country to have a few scenes .it may perhaps attract pilots. One ATC visitor this month: Aur Bogdan Dragos
Here is for our activity , it's not top ... the majority of our atc does not connect because very low traffic ,But I conceive that they are not very serious also . I hope this can help you, but it is very light! Have a good day Thomas. Best Regards, [email protected] Summary from Libya: We have seen an uptake in interest for Libya and Sudan. Many visiting controllers have come to our vACC to both assist and explore with our expanding vACC. Traffic and ATC logins remained low in Q1 and training continues with multiple controllers. Director’s Quarter Report No. 1/2013 report for VATSIM Central Africa Division
Overview and announcements: · Changes within VATCAF division are moving on. Although we currently have no Region
Director after Ilan’s retirement a discussion with Region, Divisions and BoG is rising. Due to the planned changes in Africa’s division structure VATCAF will not take any vACC changes at this time.
· The requested FSS stations AFRC_W_FSS, AFRC_C_FSS and AFRC_E_FSS are now officially approved by BoG VP P. Nielsen. To the GRP annex with approved special positions I remember again, that the positions AFRC_FSS and AFRN_FSS are misspelled in the GRP latest version. They are listed as AFR_C_FSS and AFR_N_FSS which is incorrect.
· The VATCAF division is proud to confirm the publication of ALL airport charts on 1st March for all IFR airports which are available. All of them are self made and will be updated once there are changes. Example: Lagos Airport does now have SIDs and STARs and they were integrated within one day into the charts and the sectorfiles. Additionally a VFR chart for the complex Nairobi control zone was created to inform about VFR procedures and airspace structure.
· New webpage www.vatcaf.org was installed and established by Jonas Staehle with a great success.
Training: Controller training continues with two Instructors and now three mentors. The rate of upgrade recommendations from all FIR’s and vACC’s are constant in Q1/2013 as compared to Q4/2012. CAF Controller Promotions: In Q1/2013 all VATCAF instructors and mentors did several live and simulation sessions and we had 3 practical exams (3 passed) and less rating upgrades to S1.
