Bradfield
Target Audience
Year 10 English studentsDesigned primarily to interest male students with a love of football, although allowing for the greater depth of understanding and analysis to extend all students.
Unit Overview- Background of Values
The unit was inspired by the Lanyon Cluster Values Education Project, where we were asked to incorporate values into a new unit.
Having previously read the novel ‘Deadly Unna?’ it was clear that there were many values underpinning the novel which we could use.
We chose to look at the value of integrity.

Student Data
After the unit had finished, we decided to collect some data from the students to see how much of an impact this unit had on them.
We asked a series of questions, based around integrity, the novel and racism itself.
Q1. Can you describe a time when you haven’t acted with integrity?
Do you know why you didn’t act with integrity in that instance?
Has studying this value inspired you to show more integrity in everyday life?
How has learning about integrity affected you and how you interact with others?
Do you think that studying this value was beneficial to your life?
What were your thoughts on how the community in ‘Deadly Unna?’ treated Dumby and his family?
The End
Are there any questions?
