Installation of Trunk Water Mains Along W. 60th Street And the surrounding area Project # MED 609(609B)

The NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) is managing a capital construction project along W. 60th Street, and throughout the Lincoln Center area. The project has an anticipated completion date in winter 2017. Work scheduled on this project includes connection to the new 3rd Water Tunnel Shaft, installation of new trunk and distribution water mains, replacement of specific sewer pipes, private utility upgrades, updating various pedestrian ramps (based on conditions), reconstruction of curbs and sidewalks in certain locations, and some new traffic signal and street lighting poles.

PROJECT STATUS: Construction on this project includes the installation of 48 and 36 trunk water mains as well as 24, 20 and 12 distribution mains. Additionally, 42, 30, 24, 18 and 15 sewer pipes will be replaced throughout the area. The project will be conducted in two phases. The first phase was completed on January 15th, 2014. Phase 2 is now underway, and has a scheduled completion date in 2017. Phase 1 Work: The contractor is currently performing the fol lowing operations: Installation and construction of a new 42 sewer line south-bound

along Columbus Avenue, from Chamber 4A to W. 62nd Street. (Majority complete, with a port ion from W. 63rd Street to W. 62nd Street on hold t i l l Fal l , 2014).

Phase 2 Work: The contractor is currently performing the fol lowing operations: Installation and construction of a new sewer line in Amsterdam

Avenue, from W. 59th Street to W. 63rd Street. (Anticipated completion in Summer, 2014, with temporary holds on work in accordance with IMG Fashion Week).

Utility work in Amsterdam Avenue and W. 59th Street. ( In Progress).

Sewer work on W. 60th Street from West End Avenue to Amsterdam Avenue. (Complete).

Electrical work on W. 60th Street at West End Avenue ( In Progress).

Utility work on W. 60th Street from Amsterdam Avenue to West End Avenue ( In Progress).

Excavation, installation, and construction of 12 trunk water main in Amsterdam Avenue, from W. 59th Street to W. 62nd Street. (12 in west side of the street was completed in January, 2014; 12 in east side of the street TBD).

FUTURE WORK SCHEDULED: As we continue work in 2014 the contractor will be performing the following work for Phase 2: Excavation, installation, and construction of a new 48 trunk water

main in W. 60th Street from West End Avenue to Amsterdam Avenue. (Anticipated to begin after sewer and Con Edison work).

Water main work (micro-tunneling) in W. 62nd Street, from Columbus Avenue to Amsterdam Avenue. (Majority of work to be performed in 2014, after IMG Fashion Week).

48 trunk water main work in West End Avenue, from W. 59th Street to W. 61st Street (TBD).
